Short Path Distillation 2L, Factory Stocks Available Sale 2L Short Path with Cold Trap and 110V Stirring Heating Mantle

UPDATE: as of the first official run, the stir-bar stopped working. Not the stir motor, I tore down this awful mantle to take a look and the motor still turns. The stir bar, however, doesn't react at all. This is what happens when you buy from china.The recieving flask for the cold trap arrived shattered at the joint. This was EXTREMELY well packaged, and tells me that the flask was probably annealed improperly. Nothing was touching the neck during shipping, and as a glassblower I can say that it is extremely unlikely to recieve mechanical shock that would break ONLY the neck of the 1L flask with no weight or force on it whatsoever. I can't find a suitable replacement on amazon that actually has both 1L capacity and a 24/40 ground joint, unless it is an erlenmeyer which isn't necessarily appropriate for this setup.The cow has scarring all over the inside, as well as on the cold trap.The short path apparatus itself was in GREAT condition, and has some amazing quality smithon welds and a deur joint! The heating mantle is also extremely badass (edit: after a few uses, the mantle has become TERRIBLE with heat retention/consistency.) But the cow being scarred and scratched as well as the cold trap being scarred, PLUS the collection vessel arriving shattered... Is a HUGE bummer.So now I have an incomplete kit because I can't find the right part. Will have to use a 24/40 erlenmeyer flask for the first distillation, which I luckily have 2 of. I doubt it will be short enough, however, so some jerry-rigging will be necessary.And DEAR MANUFACTURER: Here is a note for your glassworkers. Don't overwork the glass and avoid too low temps when shaping, and maybe do better cleanup on the prep tubes of clear so your glass will scar less. and god dangit, anneal your products correctly please so a ground joint doesn't randomly break in the box. Also, perhaps for the price, you could include a vacuum pump or even better, look into making a venturi aspirator pump since they're so cheap and can be made from borosillicate glass. A simple water pump can utilize that to draw a near perfect vacuum. I just feel like you don't get a lot for your money here.

Great product glass feels very sturdy and appears thick and of good quality haven't used yet but everything came with it although in separate packages there was 3 packages 2 on one day 1 on another has the haochang logo on all the glass only issue was a lug nut that came with it was too big so I had to get another for under 5$ shipper responded quick with info on package when messaged great value possibly the best value on amazon for this product

Well. They refunded me my money for the mantle. Thats was generous, however after 10 failed runs and thousands of dollars worth of oil wasted due to vacuum leaks from the glass not being uniform im done. Threw the whole setup away, no amount of vacuum grease or ptfe sleeves could make it work. I have many years of experience with distillation and this was the worst purchase i have made in years, i wanted it to work and do a few home distillations but i might as well have thrown my money in the fire.take your chances if you want

The company responds quickly when I showed them I had a broken flask. However I will need to buy new vacuum adapters for the thermometers because the seals are too loose on what they delivered.

Arrived in separate packages. Received before it was supposed to be here. The reviews talking about the magnetic ster bar not working probably got it to hot. You can only heat up a magnet to around 100c before it stops working. Get some vacuum grease for the joints, this is a great unit at this price point. Couldn't ask for better.

The temperature sensor shown in the top of the distillation head doesn't seal in that location, it it just a grill thermometer and is apparently not intended to be used as pictured. Beyond that everything is as described.

Glass is good. Packed well. Magnetic stirrer doesn't work.
