Its worth it!
Definitely buy it. I take my LX100 everywhere from climbing mountains to street festivals and I needed something to protect my lens. So I debated leaving the UV filter on the camera and not ordering the cap but finally I broke down and got it. And I am kicking myself for not getting it sooner. Here's why...1. Offers better protection than the lens cap or UV filter because of its quality.2. It locks tightly on to the camera body (where the cover ring is located -not on the lens) so losing it or damaging the lens is not a concern3. You can put filters in front of the lens and the ACLX100 will close about 90% - It will not close 100% - but it doesn't bother me because I use my CPL filter sparingly.4. And probably a goofy reason to some but my camera looks "cool" and feels more "techy". Yes I know its a lens cap, but it feels like it finished "dressing up" the LX100.Now I will say the material is plastic and the Company Name and model number is stamped too large on the side for my taste (so with a little wiping with goof off cleaner that disappears, but this was not that big of a deal for me. Besides that what you see is what you get and delivery fast. Enjoy!!

Excellent value bundle (lens cap and screen protector) for Lumix LX100!
The Fotasy LX100K Auto Self-Retaining Lens Cap bundled with two LCD screen protectors and a lens wipe/cloth is an EXCELLENT value. At only $17, it is considerably cheaper than the OEM Panasonic lens cap ($40!)--better yet, for that price it also includes two good-quality screen protectors and a lens cloth! The cap mounts securely on the LX100 and operates exactly as it should. Unlike the Panasonic cap, you can also squeeze a slim-profile lens filter underneath this cap and it will still be able to close. I don't use a UV/skylight filter on my camera the way some folks do for protection (in my mind, that's what the lens cap is for); however, I do use neutral density (ND) filters on my camera in bright sunlight so that I can shoot pictures and video at optimal settings for sharpness and shutter/frame rate. You only need one screen protector, but it's nice that this set includes a spare in case you don't get it positioned right on the first try. I found that the screen protector has very good transparency; it just disappears, as it should, and I had no trouble with air bubbles (of course, you need to apply it with proper technique, gradually working from one edge to the other as you remove the backing and press it into place). What more can I say? It works and it's priced at a great value! Highly recommended!

Works with OEM Leica UV filter for D Lux 7
I bought this set after reading that you couldn’t use the Leica automatic lens cap with filters. I was a little worried about the lens quality so I didn’t even try to put this on until now, several months after purchase. It works with the included filter flawlessly, however I bought the Leica branded UV filter when I bought my camera and hadn’t unboxed it yet. Much to my utter surprise- this auto lens cap fits over the Leica branded UV filter with ZERO issues whatsoever as well! I’m so happy that I have all Leica glass AND an automatic lens cap. YAY!

function over form
Snaps on easily and securely I love the functionality. I give it 4 stars because it's dark grey rather than black so it does not match the camera and it is not as sleek as the Panasonic version. My filter fits with no issues.

Works as described.
Using it for a Leica D-Lux 8. Great replacement for the stock lens cap and is much cheaper than the Leica branded version.

Good quality but frustrating
A lens hood for such a wide zoom range is always a challenge but this design is good. It is also very sturdy. If I have an issue (and I do) it is nearly impossible to remove the lend cap. The amount of space between the hood and the cap release button is tiny and no adult-size hand can do it quickly.Design tip for the new evolution: design a cap with a extended front-mounted release and include it with the hood.

its good if working
its good if working. but the one I got was damaged an hour after opening the package (never dropped or pressed). Im trying to repair it myself but the problem is always coming back. There is a loose pin which holds one of the cover. Good thing there is an extra filter so my order does not wasted at all. wont buy it again or recommending it specially those ordering from far places like me.

The cap really does feel like standard equipment in terms of how securely it attaches ...
The cap really does feel like standard equipment in terms of how securely it attaches and how it works. The first thing I noticed is that the little blades fit together closely, but don't really form a positive seal (like having a small lip on one edge that fits under the other). That has to let a little more dust inside than a standard cap you remove by hand.I had to get over this apprehension quickly when I lost the OEM Panasonic cap (which never wanted to stay on properly). Left with no other option under I could order a replacement, I started using this one. That was about a year ago and I still haven't taken this cap off my LX100. In practice, I haven't had any glaring problems with dust getting in through the blades and I know I've captured shots I might have missed while fumbling with a regular cap. Also, I've had the included LCD screen protector affixed to my LX100 since day one and it's done the job perfectly.
