I bought this product because i have a soundbar / projector / laptop setup, with this Matrix switch i'm now able to connect my computer to the switch, and then have an HDMI audio for the soundbar and an arc HDMI out for the projector. Got a new 4k projector but didn't want to give up my older NAD AV receiver that doesn't support 4k video passthrough or ARC. I've got a ~20ft run of high quality hdmi cable through the wall and ceiling to the projector. The AU4X1 is just what I needed.Pros:* Full 4k video with up to 4 inputs* Dolby Digital+ audio to my receiver* All HDMI connections* Way cheaper than buying a new receiverCons:* UPDATED - Most video content doesn't glitch or drop out but Indiana Jones Dial of Destiny on Disney+ had several video drop outs lasting 2-3 seconds each time. I took off a star for this issue.* It very rarely happens but audio can drop out for a couple seconds* Lost convenience of receiver passthrough functionality like switching inputs and on-screen volume level indicator* AUX41 remote doesn't always register the button presses but eventually works* No Atmos support but I dont have the ceiling speakers for that anyway

This did exactly what I needed and saved me the cost of buying a new AVR.My current AVR works great, has support for Atmos and 4K resolutions, but unfortunately does not support HDR HDMI signals. I just recently bought a new HDR display, but didn't want to upgrade my audio system just to get the most out of it.Instead of buying a new AVR, I was able to add this unit into my system, set the output to passthrough and route my AppleTV and UHD Blu-ray player and AVR video out though this. The video output goes directly to my display and the audio-only HDMI goes to my AVR. The signals go where they need to go and I'm getting full 4K HDR @ 60hz 4:4:4 video to the display and Dolby Atmos and other high resolution audio formats to the AVR.I use a Harmony remote and was able to train it to switch inputs using this unit with the included IR remote.I've only had it a day, but so far I'm very happy with it.(photo is showing my AVR getting full Atmos sound)
