This is probably the best hat ever made
Waterproof, blocks sun, breathable, good looking, for formal or backpacking. Has unique strap system which will keep hat on your head in strong wind. I wear this hat kayaking in heavy wind and love it.Suggestion for Tilley: make video showing how to adjust the 2 straps and show hat performing in wind with sind speed indicator. Increase wind till hat blows off. My guess is that would be 40 to 50 mph.Second suggestion for Tilley: have stow compartment for straps, when not in use the hat is hard to put on without the straps dangling outside the hat.

Great hat
Update: These hats are no longer made in Canada. My review is for the hat of Canadian manufacture. I cannot vouch for the new ones made in China.I love this hat. I've worn one regularly for well over a year and it's still in great shape. I've recently ordered another as the size I originally got was just a shade too small. They are very well made and durable, and lightweight (Tilley says 4 ounces.)Please note before you buy that Amazon's product description is inaccurate when it says the hat is "designed with a medium brim that snaps up Aussie style." As you can clearly see in the photos, there is no snap on the brim. It does not snap up. (Also, the brim is "wide" in the manufacturer's parlance, not medium; the one with the medium brim is the LTM5.) The brim on the LTM6 offers good sun protection for the face and neck. It measures 3 1/2" in the front and back, and 2 1/2" on the sides.Ventilation with the mesh strip is adequate for hot weather, and the sweatband does a good job of wicking away moisture. But it is a hat, and you will sweat in it. Wash it often to keep the sweatband from staining (also, the brass grommets around the holes where the straps enter develop a patina that will cause a green discoloration on the straps if you don't wash the hat regularly to remove sweat). It does shed water well if you encounter light to moderate rain, but it is water repellent, not waterproof. The dual strap system is excellent for keeping the hat on your head where it belongs in windy weather (I've worn mine on roller coasters with no worries about losing it). It's nice to have the flexibility of using the rear strap only (light wind), front and rear (heavy wind) or no strap. The brim stands up to windy weather. It is flexible, but much stiffer than a typical floppy bucket hat. There is some kind of an insert in the rim (probably plastic) that helps it retain its shape, but the brim can't be shaped as you can with a wire rim.If you size the hat properly, it will sit low on your head and be less than snug. I highly recommend that you check out the manufacturer's sizing instructions on Tilley's web site. Amazon won't let me link to it, but it's Tilley dot com, and click on the link that says "Sizing is important." (Pay particular attention to the part about being able to slip two fingers between your forehead and the front of the hat.) I wish I had done so before ordering my first hat. The new one fits perfectly with no headachesThe interior pocket is a nice feature. It's large enough to stash cash, credit cards, licenses or a key. There is a lightweight layer of closed-cell foam in the crown that helps the hat keep its shape and also allows it to float if dropped into water.I was a little hesitant to buy my first Tilley hat when I saw the price, but it is worth every penny, and Amazon's price is the lowest I've seen.

LOVE THIS HAT
I bought this hat to wear when I play gold. It looks great, keeps my face and ears from getting sunburn, and shades my eyes. I liked this hat so much that I had to buy a second hat in a different color. I wanted to buy the Tilley brand because they have a lifetime guarantee, and the one I have had for around 25 years, and washed uncountable times, still looks as good as the day I bought it. Highly, highly recommend Tilley!!

Great looking, rugged headgear for the demanding adventurer, and those who admire them.
I purchased the Tilley LTM6 Airflo about 2 weeks ago and it has quickly become my favorite hat. I chose the olive color, because I think it looks great. The hat itself is extremely good-looking for what it is, and has a bit of an Indiana Jones vibe.Living in the Palm Springs California area, where temps reach 115f and above in the summer, it's important to keep your dome cool. The LTM6 is a broad brimmed hat with mesh ventilation. It's fairly light, though to be honest, for a quick trip outside I will sometimes just grab an ultralight bucket hat. But when I'm going to be under the sun for any significant amount of time, the Tilley is my go-to. The broad brim shades my ears and neck.As other reviewers have mentioned, it's possible to tuck the two cords into the secret pocket to get them out of the way, though it's slightly awkward, and creates a small lump inside the hat. My only (very small) gripe is that I don't particularly need the 2nd cord (extra boot lace), and it's a little bit in the way. That said, this is the best hat I've ever owned, and has become one of my cherished possessions. Recommended!

Lightweight
This is perfect for the type of work I do. If you are outside in the heat and sun you will love this hat. It fits great, keeps it's shape well, and really helps you stay cooler. Highly recommend.

Just purchased replacement for 24 year old Tilley hat
Purchased my original Tilley at the Annapolis Sailboat Show in the early 2000‘s and wore it consistently for years before setting it aside. Recent trip to the dermatologist and resulting biopsy indicated that I needed to do more to protect my head, face and upper body. Found that my trusty old Tilley was too small to be comfortable, so I ordered a new LTM6 but found it too small…even after following sizing instructions. Returned it and ordered two sizes larger and it fits well. The first order arrived folded multiple times in a plastic bag. Laid it out for two days and deep creases in the brim remained. Returned it to Amazon due to size and condition, and then ordered larger size. New hat arrived in a flat cardboard package with no creases. Much better condition. Due to fit and condition, it‘s a “keeper“.In the proper size, the hat fits comfortably loose and, if it is needed, the combination retention strap holds the back of the head and chin. It is water resistant and the brim provides both rain and sun protection. The hat packs flat (don’t fold it) for travel.I am pleased with my new Tilley hat and expect to continue using it for many years.
