This is a beautiful, high quality pick and my Geologist son was ...
My son is majoring in Geology and asked for a rock pick as a gift for his birthday. Needless to say as his mom I couldn't buy just any old rock pick. This is a beautiful, high quality pick and my Geologist son was VERY impressed!!

One rock hammer to rule them all
I bought this for use as a field geologist during field camp. This thing is amazing, I love the way it looks and feels. I purchased it and was hesitant on smacking rocks with it at first but once you break it in you don't fear so much any more. The leather handle makes use bearable and even after hitting some hard minerals and rocks with this, the strike face doesn't look too bad. The only downside I can think of is that the surface does get some rust after extended use. But otherwise a solid rock hammer.

this was perfect! Mind you this is clay not hard rock
I bought this specifically to take out to Nevada and worked a cliff for Opals for two days. This item is top notch! I didn't even have to use my larger pick as it took too much wall of, this was perfect! Mind you this is clay not hard rock, but I also use it rock hounding around the Cascade Mountains. I went with the leather grip and it was worth the extra couple bucks for sure! I highly recommend this to any rock hound. Since I do a ton of camping it comes in very handy as well when pounding or prying stakes when setting up and collapsing your tent. It is super handy around the campsite IE for also making sticks of kindling, but be careful!

Great rock hammer
Great rock hammer. Nice weight and feel. Held up great durring several field trips and field camp. Black powder coat has chipped a little and the handle is no longer glossy (thanks to the NM desert) but it's been heavilly used these past 3 years! The special edition also makes your fellow geologists jealous!

Guaranteed to Find Minerals
Outstanding piece of equipment/accoutrements. Well made, sturdy, grips well, excellent quality, real leather, heavy heft, can't find a better mineralogist's pick. Bound to find great specimens in tailings dumps.
