From Woodwork to Laundry...and Beyond
I'm pretty much convinced that this soap can clean just about anything, including people! In addition to being a key ingredient in home made laundry soap, it is magic on black appliances. The black glass front of the oven gets pretty gunky. First I work up a lather on a cleaning cloth, and use it all over the stove, followed by wiping it down with a clean damp cloth. Same for the other appliances as well as wood cabinets. It has the smell of 'clean' not perfume.Next the bathroom. Great on tile. The outside of the commode. The floor.A bar lasts a long time when it isn't grated up for laundry soap. Way cheaper per use than spray bottles, and more effective. It's been around so long because it works.

Exceptional.
Over the years I’ve read many praises for this product in removing laundry stains. I’m glad to say that it does in fact live up to all of the praise, which is exceptional for products nowadays that seem to have declined in their quality over the years. I recommend this to everyone. I will remain a consumer of this product as long as it’s performance remains as exceptional as it is now and appears to have been for the last few decades or longer.

Fels Naptha Laundry Bar - New Fragrance?
Finding the Fels-Naptha laundry bar here is a pleasant surprise – I had almost forgotten it existed. My grandmother and mother both used the product. It is easy to incorporate as a stain buster and pre-treater. Before laundering, dampen the soiled area and rub the bar over the stain. If heavily stained, work the soap into the area. It is possible to treat an entire washer load by grating half a bar or so and adding to the laundry tub, but not having tried this, I cannot speak to the outcome. The reason for four rather than five stars is the fragrance, it has a very strong perfume smell. Granted it has been some years since using a bar, I do not remember this being the original scent. Thankfully, the product still does a good job on a wide range of stains. And, that it has been around for over one hundred years is a testament to its effectiveness. Sometimes more than one application is required, so check after wash before drying to avoid setting the stain.I almost never see this laundry bar anywhere so it was a pleasant surprise to find it here. The only down-side is the scent. Perhaps Purex will consider returning to the original formula.

The best stain remover
I wear almost exclusively vintage clothes, which often come with their own 60+ year old stains and are expensive/nice enough that I want to keep them looking fresh. I've tried a TON of different products and home remedies for stain removal with varying degrees of success, but I have found this to be hands down the easiest, best smelling, and most dependable stain remover. It's also quite the bang for the buck - I've used it a ton since I first received it and it barely looks used. It has so far gotten out every stain with a quick scrub and not damaged any fabric.

Amazing!
I purchased Ruby's Red Wash and Fels Naptha Laundry Bar and Stain Remover at the same time and for the same reason. The soap beat out the Wash, hands down. I soaked my garments in cold water for about a day before I used either of the products. Then, I followed the instructions on the Red Wash bottle and the packaging on the soap bar for four different pairs of.... You know. Two for the Wash and two for the soap. WOW. The results for the soap were just AMAZING. They looked BRAND NEW when I was finished. The pair(s) that I had applied the Wash to had to be given the soap treatment even after following the instructions on the bottle of the Red Wash. Oh, and did I mention that the soap only cost a DOLLAR?? Yeah.*I did have to scrub with the soap but I didn't mind it. You might want to wear a pair of rubber gloves since, after a WHILE, the soap starts to do something weird to your fingernails. Kind of the same thing that bleach will do to them but it takes a lot longer.EDIT: Oh my gosh! I can't believe I forgot to mention my headband. I wear a pink headband everywhere I go. I've worn the same headband for the last five years or so and it looked awful. I washed it every week but it just looked horribly dingy. I scrubbed it with the soap and BAM. Looks BRAND NEW. I kid you not. I still can't believe it.
