Really Catches Snakes, also mice, grasshoppers, ants, snails, worms
we live in the Mountains in Tennessee. We are the first inhabitants of this area since Chief Duck was driven out by US troops in the early 1800's. We have a lot of copper heads. Have't seen an Eastern Diamondback, but they are said to be here also.Put the snake trap out on the 4th of July. Today, August 6, we got our first snake. We bought another trap today also. The photo on the left shows shows a captured snake and various other critters. The photo on the left shows how far the snake dragged off the sticky insert.I had been carefully looking inside the black box to see if there was a snake. From my experience here, sample size of 1, it appears that the snake will drag the sticky insert, obviating the need to check inside. Further, I had worried about being envenomated by a snake on the insert. Not to worry, this one was so well stuck that the only way he/she could envenomate would be if you put a finger or toe immediately in front of his/her mouth and then stuck it into his/her mouth.I shall add additional comments as I have more experience.Another spring more snakes. Got another copperhead, another lizard (skink) and a field mouse. See photos.Really works very well.

Garbage. DOES NOT CATCH SNAKES
Garbage. DOES NOT CATCH SNAKES! The snake poops on top of the trap, in front of the trap, behind the trap, and just goes around it. What a joke. THIS TRAP IS AN EXPENSIVE PIECE OF GARBAGE!

Not worth the money but still waiting to catch something

Hopeful
This was a really weird purchase. We had an adult copperhead in our dog yard last fall, and we saw the hole it entered at the top of a retaining wall. The trap arrived after winter cold had set in, but since copperheads often overwinter in communal dens, this trap will be set in the spring. It is unfortunate that it also catches lizards or and anything else that hits the sticky paper, but I am happy to have a trap that will allow me to release a non-venomous snake elsewhere. Next summer, we'll pour concrete down the hole. I am hopeful of success since I know the area of activity. I only wish it had come with more than 2 inserts.

Does not seem to work for Black snakes. Put it under the bushes by the front door and the snakes avoided it by going up in the bushes. Have at least two that have avoided it .

The fact that we can reuse this trap is wonderful.
Caught a huge snake in my backyard using this trap. PA Fishing Officer came out to remove it from my property. Thank you so much! What a relief, I am terrified of snakes and we may have a den in retaining wall. The fact that we can reuse this trap is wonderful.

Design is terrible
I've put over $100 into these "snake traps" & have yet to catch a snake. While they were mating, we had at least 5 snakes under the house & ended up having to take other measures. The design is all wrong. The wings on the inserts need to be a little wider to be able to wedge them in place so that the snake doesn't drag it out of the box or cause it to stick to the top. Using double sided tape to hold it in place makes it hard to remove. The instructions say put the insert 7" from opening. The box is not tall enough to get your hand in. Just not user friendly or effective. UPDATE: I see now that there is a lift top version. Why did I waste money on this other thing. & now I can't make myself spend $80 more for what i should have had to begin with!!!
