Awesome soap
I was reading what people had to say about the "sterile" smell that witch hazel has, but I personally really like the smell. It does have a sterile smell, but in a good way, like, "you have good hygiene and smell clean" sort of smell. It makes my skin feel awesome as well.

A really good soap
I bought this thinking it was shaving soap (for use with a brush during wet shaving), so I was a bit disappointed when I got it and realized it was not what I expected. However, this soap is freakishly good at cleaning your hands and face. I have never used a soap that cleaned as well or as quickly as this does. I use it before shaving when my face is particularly oily or dirty. Aside from that, I often use it for everyday hand cleaning. It has a moderate astringent effect on your face. I find it pleasing, but YMMV. I'm neutral about the scent. It neither bothers, nor pleases me. Mostly, I'm just impressed with how well it cleans.

New soap not as good as old
I've been using Grandpa's Witch Hazel soap for over 10 years, so imagine my surprise when a new order comes in when the soap appears and smells completely different than what I was used to. Previously, the soap had a nice light scent but now has several lavender ingredients that are overpowering and overwhelming. If you like lavender, you might like this soap. It's frustrating having been a loyal customer for many years to have such a complete and drastic recipe change of an old favorite. Unfortunately, I think I'm going to have to find a new soap elsewhere as apparently all their products have had a complete recipe change in 2016.

Beware! new forumla caused rash and excema which I never had before!
The old formulation was my favorite cleanser because it controlled both my oily skin as well as not irritating my allergies. The new formulation CAUSED me to get a horrible rash. I still had a bit of the old formula left and no problems so its definitely the new formulation. I suspect its the addition of the lavender which is both real lavender (Lavandula angustifolia or L. officinalis) as well as one of the Lavandula variants just for scent (no healing properties) . I use real lavender all the time so I suspect its that or the ginger that is now in it. In any case i cn still use the old formula but not the new. ruin of what was a staple item. I wonder what else is different from the old formula? I would post teh ingredients but I already threw away the box. I have been using the witch hazel soap for more than 10 years and have recommended it to may people....well never again. I hope they did not ruin the other varieties.

Good stuff for combination skin
Grandpa's Witch Hazel soap was something I came across in my search for witch hazel products that weren't insanely expensive cosmetics. I had heard that the extract was good for people who have adult acne, which I do. While it is definitely a more expensive soap than your basic grocery store brands, it's not terribly more money, and I like it enough that I don't mind paying a bit more. It smells nice but isn't over powering, and feels like it delivers a deep clean. It definitely smells better than straight up witch hazel in a bottle.I won't say it's cured my problem but I do think when used regularly, it helps with my breakouts. It's also partly glycerine which I like over a lot of other soaps that have funky oils in them. It's slightly more drying to the skin if you don't moisturize afterword, but compared to antibacterial soaps I have used in the past, it's not bad at all.

Longtime Witchhazel soap fan
I've been buying this soap for 20 years. I found it while going to college in Berkeley. I used to have a hard time finding this soap, but since I've found it on line, I buy it in bulk several times a year so we never run out. My husband is also a big fan. It helps keep my skin from breaking out too badly. Washes away cleanly. No wierd smell. Very nice.

Really good soap!
I started buying this soap for my son...he was getting cracked skin on his fingertips and a little bit on his toes. This soap really did help him. I use it because the witch hazel feels good on my skin and I like the smell...I recommend it!
