Great Product, Excellent Customer Service
My Use:estate/small farm (<5 acres); supplying water to small pond, animals, garden, and landscape plantings, plus fire suppression for burn piles;Positives:heavy duty rubber hose and very solid brass connectionsstrain relief spring on spigot end, strain collar on nozzle endminimal kinking, and generally only when drained and hot (sunny days), and thus at its most pliablestill quite flexible when charged (full)very high flow rate (think firefighter-type water flow), works great with Nelson 50503 High-Pressure Rated Fireman's Style Industrial Spray Nozzle with Large On/Off Leveroutstanding customer serviceNegatives:hose swells significantly when full and well-heated by sunAfter purchasing one of these hoses in 2011, I liked its quality and decided to get another. Sometime after receiving the second hose (Jan/2012) the first hose failed at the spigot end (female) coupling. The hose had been left hooked up, drained, nozzle closed (out of habit), and I went to use it one afternoon only to discover that the hose had simply popped off of the coupling! The only explanation I could come up with was that the hot sun had heated the hose and any small amount of moisture remaining therein and the resultant air/steam pressure caused the failure. I was not at all happy, but having the second hose on hand allowed me to press it into service as a replacement.Since the lifetime warranty was a factor in my purchasing the hose in the first place, I contacted the manufacturer (Colorite/Swan) by email and, after a couple of back-and-forth transmissions I was told that a replacement would be shipped at no cost and should be received in 4-6 weeks (a later email from them mentioned 3 weeks, but I planned on the original schedule). Usually impatient with these situations, and often on the wrong end of them, I almost did a check-in call at week four but held off and, to my surprise and great relief, the new hose arrived one day shy of 5 weeks from first contact!!One problem or issue, especially where I share at least a portion of the blame (leave nozzle open on uncharged lines), will not dissuade me from recommending this hose to others, and I will most certainly repurchase myself as the need arises. Thanks, Colorite.

A Wonderful Purchase
We have been keeping a large herd of horses in a corral without a winter watering system. This was not meant to be a long term situation, but for this winter it has become that. To get water to the horses we have run a long length of hose from our house well system. We thought we had a decent strong hose for this, but we were wrong. Our trials with that old hose got us looking to our trusty Amazon site for info, reviews and hopefully a purchase. We initally bought 100 ft of this hose to test it out, and recently bought 175 feet more because we love it so much. It has been serving us well through -27 degree C weather, we have a system for draining the hose inbetween uses and it seems as good as new. This hose does not kink, this is crucial for us, the brass fittings are impressive and holding up through the constant reality of freezing and thawing and the wide diameter means that the work of running water to the horses is going as quickly as possible, definitely faster than with our old garden hose. Its hard to spend what seems like a lot of money for a hose, but this is not your average garden hose. It makes our life so much easier, we feel every penny was well spent and it will actually be cheaper than making multiple purchases of lesser quality hoses.

It Leaks, Kinks, and Insn't Flexible. Do Not Buy This Hose!
I was excited when Colorite hose and my new watering wand arrived. The hose is very thick and heavy, which was O.K. with because I wanted something that was lead free, kink free, and would last a very long time. I hooked up the hose to the spigot and the wand to the end of the hose. When I turned on the hose water started spraying from the so called "High performance lead-free brass coupling" near the wand. My homes watering system is know where near the 500psi that this hose can handle. When I looked at the coupling near the spigot it was dripping as well. I didn't have any other hoses, so I have watered my plants for a week while deciding if I want to take it back to Amazon, or go through the Colorite warrantee process. While watering I have found that the hose kinks very easily. I believe this is due to the lack of flexibility in it's design. I counted 5 kinks in the hose the last time I went out! I am infuriated because now I have to pay to return the hose, or pay to send back both couplings and 6" of hose to Colorite hoping I got a bad apple.I'll keep you updated.

Hose to blend in with the house.
We wanted a brick color hose. Previously we bought a dunlop brick color hose that is kept at the front of the house and blends in well so you don't notice it in between the bushes. We also have terracotta brick colored trim so when we started looking for a hose for the back yard we looked for something similar.Unfortunately Dunlop no longer makes the brick hose, but a fairly bright red one which wasn't suitable so we ordered this. The quality of the hose is decent, a little more brighter orange/red than your average brick. more like wet brick. But it looks fine, it has a sort of hexagonal cross section that lies flat and though it does bend quite tightly it doesn't kink easily. The connections at each end are chunky and easy to grip.A nice rubber handle at the outlet end makes holding it very comfortable. The only problem with ours was with the springy flex protector that fits into the tap side screw connector. It came loose and fell away when tightening the hose to the faucet. A zip tie and some twisting got it to fit snug in place and we have had no further problems. This hose is supposed to be safe for drinking which we like. It means we can fill our dogs bowls out on the patio which is always a plus. If it wasn't for the slightly brighter color and the anti kink spring being loose I might have given it 5.
