I do love these fat separators!
My old fat separator, which was virtually identical to this one, finally cracked after God only knows how many years! It did not owe anyone anything, and its funeral was well attended! I had a new one ordered the same day. The cost was great. It was shipped quickly, packaged well, and arrived safely. It is heavy plastic, very sturdy, and easy to use. It is easy to clean as long as you have ho water and a little brush to clean the spout--I do have a brush! I have used it a lot since purchase, especially over Thanksgiving. It works sooo well and it is very easy to pour off the fat, saving the drippings. I like the smaller size. I also have a bigger one, but end up using this smaller sized one much more often. I can recommend it without reservation.

Very disappointed/update 1wk/
It is what it says it is, I did not think it would stain this bad the second time I used it. I am on Tube feeding and purchased this to mix my prescriptions with water to pour into the tube. It does a perfect job, it is what it says it is. I’m not asking to return or replace this because unless it’s glass it will stain. I have been using a Angkor hocking glass measuring cup and it has not stained. I know this is clean so that is not a problem, the photo is after only two times using it so I cannot imagine what it’s’ going to look like in 6 months. I pours very well, being square its harder to mix the meds than in a round glass measuring cup, but it is so much easer to pour into the tube.UPDATE: see second photo.Don’t know if you can see the cracks in the bottom. This should not be in a product sold to separate hot gravy or grease. I’m only mixing crushed medicine with hot water for a tube feeding. The size and design is perfect for my needs, if anyone knows if this is made of glass please let me know.

Fat separator works great!
This little item works great for separating the fat from the broth, for making gravy. I went to 3 grocery stores and a kitchen ware store looking for this simple item. One of the stores had a complicated-looking machine that would do the trick, but looked like a horror to clean. To separate the fat from the broth, you just pour the liquid into this little thing, wait about a minute, then the fat rises to the top of the “pitcher”. When you pour the broth into a pot or other container, the broth pours out of the bottom of the pitcher, leaving the fat to pour out into another container or garbage. A simple kitchen item that my mother used, but I had a difficult time finding it in a store.

don't buy it
Cheap plastic cracks when you pour hot gravy into it. It is supposed to separate the fat from the liquid so it SHOULD hold a hot liquie without crazing and cracking.

PERFECT FOR CLARIIED BUTTER OR GHEE
The price of GHEE in supermarket is crazy because it starts with organic grass-fed cows. It is not difficult to make your own using a couple pounds of sale priced butter. It will be good enough for cooking and basting, but I would not spread cheap GHEE on toast.
