Hyperkin "Squire" Premium Controller for Genesis/MegaRetroN HD

Love this Sega Genesis controller. I actually prefer it to my original Sega OEM 6 button. Real solid feel in my hands and works perfect. Buttons have excellent response and D pad super accurate. Very important Cable is a whopping 10ft in length excellent for far away station from your TV. No Cons really a well made controller and also the price you can not beat a excellent replacement of original.

Somehow better than the original controls buttons are tight casing is made of nice hard plastic that has a great gripping surface and a little contour in the back for your fingers cords are extra long I feel like I robbed them

I have a few other Hyperkin controllers and love both their build quality and performance. I had to replace a Retro-Bit controller that died early (not their fault, my grandson's), but was a little irritated with a higher than usual price on it. I saw the Hyperkin controller and didn't think I could go wrong.The controller is substantial, and the performance is fine, but it just plain doesn't feel good to use. The plastic is a bit hard and it's very clicky. The button presses on the Retro-Bit had nice soft landings, but landings on this controller feel extremely hard by comparison.If you buy it, it's going to work for you - I'd pretty much guarantee that. If you're the loud type anyway and don't mind listening to the constant clicking away of your controller, and you don't mind the harder plastic for the buttons, then by all means, pick this up. I think Retro-Bit hit the nail on the head with their official Genesis controller, though. It feels great and is comparable to the originals. I think I'm going to relegate this to a "player 2" controller and pick up another Retro-Bit for myself....Who am I kidding? These kids nowadays... none of them will play my games with me and aren't very good at them anyway. This is going to sit there and collect dust.

I'll admit, I might be a button smasher. I've gone through two of these in a year, but I play boxing games that require me to push the directional pad and buttons rapidly, like 150 times in a 3 minute round.I remember the classic sega controller being a little more durable. This controller feels lighter. It's responsive though and good value if you want a similar experience. I've enjoyed it.

Bought this controller for my retro gaming system. Overall the controller didn’t last long which renders my retro gaming system useless. I would expect more from a controller. The controllers back in the day lasted for years. I wouldn’t recommend these controllers.

It does what it needs to do for the price.There is a certain amount of ‘lag’ and it becomes noticeable. There are other options available.
