The Kotobukiya Star Wars: Darth Maul Light Up ArtFX Statue is a stunning 1/7th scale collectible that stands approximately 11 inches tall. This Japanese import features intricate detailing, including Sith tattoos and a light-up double-bladed lightsaber, all inspired by the traditional ukiyo-e art style. Perfect for collectors and fans alike, this statue is a striking addition to any Star Wars display.

Too much awesomeness!
Wow! This is an absolutely amazing statue. The sculpt is beautiful and I especially like the pose and the emotion that has been captured on Mauls face. It comes in pieces but everything fits perfectly and it is actually quite sturdy. This is a great showroom piece to show off and be admired by friends and guest. People who love Star Wars, Darth Maul, or just cool stuff will definitely love this statue.

One of Koto's best Star Wars products.
I've owned three of Kotobukiya's ArtFX statues top date, and this is the only one I've liked enough to keep. The problem with the line in general is that Koto uses vinyl for its statues instead of polystone like most American companies. Vinyl is lighter, cheaper, and more durable, but the flip side is that it usually doesn't look as good. In the case of the Iron Man Mark IV and Jack Sparrow statues, the vinyl just wasn't up to the task of mimicking the look of an armored superhero or a heavily clothed pirate. They looked like large action figures, not high-end collectibles. But with Darth Maul, Koto finally succeeded in winning me over. Maul's unusual skin tone helps offset the generally plastic-y look of these statues, and the result is that collectors can admire the statue without reservations. The pose is excellent, paying homage to the historic Japanese samurai paintings while still remaining distinctly Darth Maul. The sculpt has a real sense of energy and malice, perfect for a twisted villain like Maul. The lightsaber really adds to the effect, and the light-up function is much better than you'll find at companies like Sideshow. The statue is 1:7 scale, making it just big enough to fit in with the Gentle Giant statues on my shelf. I wish it were a little bigger, but the statue is a fair size for the price. The statue comes in several pieces, but it shouldn't take more than a couple minutes to have him fully assembled and ready to display. The box is pretty flimsy, however. I usually save all my statue boxes in case I move or sell them, but I may not even bother with this one. The benefit of a vinyl statue is that it's not prone to breaking anyway.Sideshow is prepping a similar Maul statue as part of its upcoming Star Wars maquette line. It may be worth waiting to see how that statue turns out. On the other hand, Sideshow will charge 2-3 times what this piece costs. If you want an eye-popping Darth maul collectible on a budget, this is definitely the way to go.

Solid, but not super piece
I'm a serious collector and Kotobukiya has always ranked among the top for me when compared with other brands like Hot Toys, Neca, Play Arts Kai, etc. With this piece I am a bit disappointed though. Overall it is a solid and cool piece, but it falls short in 2 areas for me. First, his red color is not nearly as vibrant as the promo photos. He's more of a dull "brick" red than a bold "blood" or "cherry" red. This is a huge downer for me as I really forward to boldly colored pieces. Second, and this is true of Kotobukiya in general, the light up feature is very finicky. It activates by twisting each end of his saber handle. Once this arm is attached it can be difficult to activate and sometimes flickers. Other than these two issues, he's a very cool piece and I would still recommend him.

A must have.
First like to thank Amazon for fast and great shipping. Kotobukiya out did itself with this one. Took me no time to put this statue together. Every piece fits perfect. The detail is just incredible. If I had one complaint about this statue, it would be the light saber part. It is little bit loose and when putting it together you can break it. Other than that, this is an awesome piece to have for your star wars collection.

I ordered this item 3 separate times and neither of them would light up completely due to faulty switch. I had to return each one for the exact same issue. I changed the batteries assuming that was the issue but it was not. Each replacement were are all defective.

Its ok.
This isn't my first kotobukiya to my collection, but this is bottom of my list of quality. Doesn't fit together good at all. The lights on the lightsaber came broken on the top end, and after few turn on and off on the bottom light that stopped working to. Looks cool but very poor design. Also kotobukiya USA won't reply about the issue.

Best Darth Maul figure on the market
For around 100 bucks you really can't go wrong with this figure... Like all Kotobukiya figures this was quite easy to put together. The bottom light saber beam does not stay in place as well as the top but it works and does not affect my rating of 5 stars. The detail is amazing. Very happy customer.
