Order an aftermarket trimming chain kit. The new phaser that came in kit, was not working .had to re-order the ones from Ford .

Make sure the parts you order are the real genuine parts
The genuine Ford cam phasers if they were in fact genuine Ford cam phasers fell apart after only a year of service and when I did the timing install I ordered all Ford parts and the Mellon 360 high volume oil pump and new Ford cam phasers actuators when I tore the engine down everything was still intact except the cam phasers which fell apart after removing the valve covers I have been ordering parts from Amazon for nearly 10yrs and this is the first time I’ve purchased a genuine part that failed so soon I’ve been in business for 30yrs so I know the life expectancy of genuine parts that are professionally installed and receive scheduled maintenance through mileage ( very disappointed my engine was destroyed because of this product)

Always use OEM cam phasers on 5.4
Ordered these for a “redo” job guy had just had done. Previously he had the timing job done and used Dorman parts. A month later the cam phasers came apart and broke timing chain. Luckily no valves were bent. If you’re going to replace the timing components on your 5.4 I highly recommend oem cam phasers, Melling HV pump, cloyes timing set and adjusters and felpro gaskets. It’s definitely a time consuming job and you CAN replace the pump without dropping the pan but the bottom bolt on pickup tube is A Lot of fun. Truck runs like a dream and is quieter than when new.

So far so good.
I was worried these weren't Ford brand phasers because of the $159.99 price, but they were (now more expensive). Installed them on 10-18-19 along with a new timing set/Ford solenoids/HV oil pump. It is now 11-14-19 and they are still silent and run well. So far so good. If i run into any issues i will post them.Update 4-24-20... The truck is still running good with these installed components after a lot of miles. I also recommend using 5W30 instead of the Ford recommended 5W20. Good luck.

OE Replacement Phasers
OE phasers for Ford 5.4L Triton engines. Have bought aftermarket ones before and work for like 20-30,000 miles then fail. Decided to buy the genuine Ford ones so I wouldn't have to deal with this again in the future. Replaced both. Have put on about 10,000 miles with no problems. Time will tell how long they last but have been told that the OE ones are an updated phaser that will not fail like the old ones or aftermarket ones.
