Amazing coverage and great idea from that kilted guy on YouTube
So we had a nightmare of a ceiling in an old 1940 house and that kilted guy on youu had this listed as an economic purchase and so I got it because it was only one room. Brilliant! Smooth as anything and the room is liveable not horror show ceiling.

Works "okay" but it would be MUCH better if they put a metal edge in to keep the plastic straight.
I think the smaller ones actually work better than these larger ones. The problem is that plastic holder is not straight so that the outside edges curve in so that there is more pressure from the outside edges on the surface. I use it for rolling on skim coating so I really need a flat edge. I might try to attach a flat piece of metal to make sure the rubber is perfectly straight over its entire edge.As a tip, try to use this on a 45 degree angle or so for skim coat. You will need to continually wipe the blade off as this angle will take off more material but what it left will be nice and flat. This might work perfect for knockdown. I haven't used it yet, but that was why I bought my first, smaller one.Oh, if you are trying to skimcoat something. These do work better than troweling it on. It's MUCH easier to get a smook surface. The softer the rubber gets from "breaking in" the better it works.Great construction quality except fot the fact the larger sizes tend to have a curve in the frame which works against trying to get a flat surface.

Smooth as can be
Used to put a final smooth finish coat of joint compound in a new laundry room for the house. It takes a little practice to get a good technique down, trial and error but once you get the nack of it, the results are outstanding! Such a smooth, Mar free surface little or no sanding is needed and I'll take that any day.

Does great on first job
Was great on first job or two but not so much after. I keep all tools very clean and put plastic protector on after each job but the rubber still loses its resiliency fairly prematurely in my opinion.

Great tool
Easy to use. Keep the blade clean after each sweep. Sprits the blade with water to keep the blade moist so it will give a nice finish. Very happy with results.
