It fits!
*** After leaving this review, I ordered a couple more hats. When they came, they did not fit exactly the same as the one I had ordered originally. Upon closer inspection, the tag on the hat I originally reviewed read, ' DFAO-BLK 51742", and on the newer hats the tag read 'DFAO-BLK 56783' . While I simply re-ordered from the screen on my previous order, I did not receive the exact same product, and the newer ones are smaller and do not fit nearly as well. Bummer **So after abandoning the floppy toques from culinary school, I struggled to find a skull cap/beanie type hat that fit me comfortably. You see, Im a big guy, and my head is...well in proportion with my body. I wound up ordering 10 skull caps from amazon and other sources, some sold as XL or 'One-size-fits-all' - this was one of two that fit me properly. Its also ridiculously comfortable..the 'sweatband' is SUPER soft. It holds up well to regular (read - no extra care taken) laundry use. So if you have a big head...this hat is for you!

Keeping cool while grilling
Ok so I work for an outdoors catering company during the summer season and I have been asked by many individuals to review the products I use. Now I put some serious abuse on my items as I cook and serve thousands over the summer. With that said..I'm always on the look out for a good item to keep me comfortable during grilling and the sweat out of my eyes. This has an elastic band on the back and vented on top. Very light weight and the fit is comfortable out of the box.5/29/16Ok worked a 12 hour catering event and this head piece worked outstanding! It was well over a 100 standing in the middle of 3 large grills. The fit was comfortable and nether bothered me, the vent top worked great. No sweat dripping in my eyes. When it got really hot I dunked it in ice water to help keep me cool. Good product and safe purchase.

The Best One Will Find
I'll keep it short and sweet. As an experienced chef, this is unquestionably the best culinary head-wear I've put to use in the kitchen. The "Total Vent" part in the name of the product is no exaggeration. My body temperature is managed incredibly better than when I'm wearing any different chef hat. It's design is wonderful in both form and function. This model is the first recommendation I give to anyone seeking a chef hat. Unless you don't like the "beanie" style of culinary head-wear, then this is chef hat for you. It's design is realistically described as a "one size fits all." My head is on the smaller side, yet it stays in place perfectly throughout my entire shift and is flexible enough to properly accommodate a much larger skull than mine (a much larger co-worker with a much larger head than mine also favors this product). I'm ordering more.

Let's Get Cooking!
An earlier review stated that this was too expensive and of poor quality. I actually disagree on both points, I found this to be an excellent value for the money. For me standard shipping was about $5, so the total price came to $20 and some change.Granted, the "exclusive cool vent fabric" basically looks like nylon sports mesh, the sort that's used for jerseys and workout shorts, and the sweat band is more or less just a sweatband. The thing is, it works. There's a reason why the material is used for sports and work-out attire, it's airy. The actual material that they used for the cap is also lighter, which seems to keep it from holding the heat in as much as a heavier fabric would. Also, the sweatband is ridiculously soft. If you were to go out and buy a sweatband for an infant for some bizarre reason, I'm sure this is the material it would be made out of. The softness doesn't make it more functional than any other sweatband material, but it does make it more pleasant to wear.As far as I can tell, the whole design seems to be built around comfort and functionality, and that's what I was looking for. I'll probably be coming back for the black version as well. ^_~

Hate Baseball caps? This is for you!
I may never buy another hat again! Yes, I am a hater. I hate baseball caps! I have always hated baseball caps. I hate them because they are everywhere and seem to be the most universally accepted hat in America. What was once only a cap for wearing while playing baseball is now the ONLY hat allowed at most jobs. When was the last time you saw someone wearing a bowler hat, or a fedora (who wasn't some boyband wannabe)? The baseball cap has destroyed the hats!Enough with my ranting. I used to wear a military cadet's cap but it has become to old and ratty, before that a boonie hat, and before that a skull cap. I have a great love for comfortable and out of the norm head wear. In my line of work hats with bills tend to be a bit dangerous as they block/obscure part of your vision. I purchased this to be my next odd headgear as I really didn't want another billed hat. Thus far I must say, this is the most comfortable hat I have ever worn! The built in sweat band seems to work well and it stays in place pretty good.So if you're like me and just like odd headwear or if you actually worn in a kitchen, this is a great hat!
