Great Upgrade For Porsche 911 996 Front And Rear Speakers
My 2002 911 has the medium speaker speaker package which includes the 2 front 4 inch speakers, the 2 5 inch door subs and the 2 rear 4 inch speakers. The stock audio quality was definately not great and on certain notes the rear left speaker would rattle. Upon taking the speaker out I saw the rubber around the cone was COMPLETELY GONE and the rattle was from the cone rattling and hitting the housing. I ended up taking out the other 3 speakers and the foam was still there but literally fell apart when I touched it. I found a video on YouTube where a guy modified his boxter speakers (identical) by citing out the old ones and gluing these in place. A side note that the video didn't do is remove the old speaker foam/ glue before gluing these in. I had to soak mine in rubbing alcohol for 15 minutes before being able to scrape the old stuff off. After this you need to rough up anywhere where the glue will be for it to stick well. You will need to trim the mounting tabs to make the new speaker fit but the video shows cutting them all the way off but for them to center well you need to cut it where the forks meet the base, leaving an 1/8 inch stickin out. I used JB weld 5 minute plastic epoxy to glue the new speakers in. Something that confused me was on the plug there was a small plus indicating positive but the rear speaker wires were backwards to this. I ended up going with the wire colors which was regular for the front speakers and backwards for the rear. The 911 speakers include a small tweeter which isn't on Boxters that needs to be removed since these have a built in tweeter. The new speakers have much better overall sound quality and much more bass (not that I crank the bass all the way up, that's not what a Porsche is for(get a civic). Great speakers for the money!

but somehow with these subs which didn't sound good at all before
I replaced the 4" speakers in my 2014 Mini Cooper Paceman (2 in the front and 2 rear). I have the standard head unit with 6 speakers (2 mediocre-sounding subs under the seats). When I put in the Alpine speakers the whole system came to life. I don't understand how but even the bass improved dramatically. The speakers by themselves really have no bass, but somehow with these subs which didn't sound good at all before, now I have some clear mids and highs with decent mid-bass. I have a nice sounding unit now (not very powerful until I install amps). I would definitely recommend this upgrade for another Mini driver. For about $100 for the 4 speakers, it made a huge difference.

Great Product
I purchased this item to install on a 2015 BMW K1600 GTL. Replacing the OEM speakers (which were very poor quality). They sound MUCH better than the stock speakers. Had to break off one of the tabs and file it down a bit to make them fit. Otherwise an easy install. Only downside is that they are NOT "marine grade". So, I know I am taking a risk installing them on a motorcycle. But the bike has a membrane of sort behind the speaker grill that I'm hoping will protect them. If not, they are pretty cheap.. even I have to replace once a year I am still ahead of the game.

Good 4 inch speakers
Background: I own a 1988 Toyota Pickup, which has stock 4 inch speakers. I did not feel like modifying my truck to fit bigger speakers so I decided to stick with 4 inch speakers. I had previously bought a pair of Scosche HD4003 4-Inch 150-Watt 3-Way Speakers, which were not cutting it all (see my review). I had an Alpine head unit which I liked, and I have read good things about Alpine Type-S speakers so I decided to give these a try.Pros: Sounds good for a 4 inch speaker. No distortion even with my Alpine MRX-F35 amp. Good high and mid range frequencies. These speakers are also priced at an affordable price.Cons: No low frequency (bass). I ended up buying an amp and bass tube to solve this problem.Bottom line: As far as 4" speakers, I would say this is the best bang for the buck.

2002 Jeep Wrangler Sport
These Alpine speakers are OK, but the sound is marginal compared to the Kicker KS speakers in the roll bar. If you are planning on installing these in the dash of a Jeep Wrangler to replace the stock 4x6 inch speakers, stop. The adapters sold with these speakers claim to allow these four inch speakers to be installed where your 4x6 inch speakers were previously installed. The adapters may work on some vehicles, but do not fit the Jeep Wrangler. The adapters are several inches too short to mount into the factory speaker holes. You will need a different adapter or do as I did and cut the factory speaker off the factory mounting plate and mount the speaker onto the factory plate. My suggestion would be order from a place like Crutchfields that provides a proper adapter for your vehicle.

Good value . Good sound.
Great replacement speakers from stock speakers. I installed these and they sound great. If you are looking for bass you won't find a lot of it from these. I have enough bass from the other speakers and get mid and highs from these . I bought these to replace front door speakers and didn't have a lot of room in the door panel. They just fit the depth and I didn't have to cut any holes or replace my factory grills. Great purchase for my situation.

Plastic speaker frames.
I was dissapointed to see a plastic frame on these when I opened the box. Not to my suprise the frame of the speaker cracked at one of the mounting tabs when I mounted the first speaker. I was extra careful on the second one and was able to safely get it mounted without cracking.
