Attic was squirrel-free within 24 hours
This trap made short work of ridding my attic of squirrels, who had wantonly violated the unspoken compact I have with wildlife to leave the inside of one another's homes alone. These war criminals had been conspiring, and from what I can tell Irish step dancing 6 feet over my head starting at 4:00 every morning for weeks on end, causing general mayhem and wreaking havoc on my sleep patterns. It was time to defend the home front.Like some other buyers recommended, I used duct tape to block off one of the tube ends, then smeared the trigger mechanism and the area above it with peanut butter. I initially set the trap on a Sunday afternoon and by Monday morning (when they traditionally have been most active), after I heard some very unusual activity, I was able to positively confirm on the IR camera I put up there that there was indeed one less squirrel living in my attic. This is a powerful trap. I was able to witness the immediate aftermath of the squirrelicide and can confirm that there was no sign that it survived the encounter or suffered in any way; however, it was kind of sad to see the other squirrel investigate squirrel #1's death then get the heck out of dodge when he presumably figured out what happened. C'est la guerre. I emptied contents of the trap into a trash bag, confirmed there was still some peanut butter for bait, and reset the trap.I was unable to determine exactly when squirrel #2 joined squirrel #1 in squirrel Valhalla, but it was sometime later that afternoon. Again I reset the trap, but I have not heard a single peep nor seen any illicit activity in my attic since that violent day. The bottom line is that this trap has worked very well for me.

Well, it definitely works.
I live in an area where squirrels are taking over. They were getting on my house, & I was afraid they would make their way into the attic & then I'd have to pay good money to for an exterminator, so that led to this.I taped up one end of this tube, to give them one way to enter. I put shelled peanuts in the very back of the tube up against the tape, so the peanuts wouldn't move. I stuck a little peanut butter on one of the peanuts & I set the trap. This trap is not the easiest to set, but it's doable & takes some getting used to. Definitely use the safety hook! It is your friend. Be careful! This thing is pretty powerful. U can definitely hurt yourself if you're not careful. Now, the trap is set & I stick it below a tree where a few squirrels nest. After about 4 hours, I got the first squirrel. I set it again & exactly the same results. After 9 squirrels, it's safe to say that this trap works.. One week & 9 squirrels. I probably could have gotten more if I were quick to reset the trap. I take no delight in doing this at all. It definitely takes a toll on u. You literally have to move the trap mechanism all the way back to the set position to shake it so some of these squirrels will come out. The squirrels get caught in all kinds of different positions too.The truth is the trap works. Not one squirrel survived this trap. The only problem is depending on the position the squirrel gets caught in, that depends on how quickly they pass. In a perfect situation, this trap gets them at the head & neck for instant success. Sometimes the squirrels will get half way through or even less & it's takes them way longer to expire. That's a bit ridiculous & I have no idea how many weren't instant, but I know one for sure wasn't..All in all, it will do the job, but sometimes it can be brutal. On an extermination factor, I give it a 5. On an easy to set factor it's about a 3. With that said, I give it a 4, but it will do the job for sure.

Works great with and without bait.
Great value and easy setup. Works with and without bait. Caught 3 squirrels in 9 days. Two with peanut butter for bait and one without because I forgot the peanut butter. No more squirrels.

Extreme force required, went missing immediately
What a stupid product. Impossible force required to wind and arm the trap. Also, instructions sheet not included, it would be nice to tell the customer to tie it down because it was only a matter of time before a larger animal comes in and takes the caught animal AND the trap off site. After a couple of uses, the item was lost along with the $50 that were regrettably wasted on it.

It Definitely Works >>> Follow Some Basic Tips
Neighborhood overrun with many squirrels especially during fall / winter where they are fattening themselves up and building destructive nests on roof under solar panels. Solar panel company charging thousands to do full mesh protection and taking over a month to arrive. Resorted to this trap after previous plastic ones did not work. Spring is extremely strong and must use caution when setting trap or will injure! Close off one end with strong tape and cardboard / plastic, cover with some leaves, leave peanut butter smeared on top AND bottom of inside of trap and throw in nuts / fruit to attract. 2 squirrels down and counting...
