Useful for Testing RJ45 connections
I needed a breakout for my RJ45 cable from my tower weather station. I wanted to test the signals coming down from the tower cable. I was able to plug this into a junction box and clearly see all the lines in the cable. Great solution for my problem.

Pins go to opposite side of connector
Good quality connector. Please be aware that the terminals go to the opposite side of the ethernet connector. For example the brown ethernet pin is the furthest away, and so on. Not knowing this would have put +24v on the wrong pins of my POE equipment and burned it up.

The breakout worked great.

Screw terminals are not identifed. You can get crossed up.
Pin-out can be confusing. You have to view this like a cable, where pin 1 is on the left with the copper contacts towards your face. One might suspect that pin 1 goes straight back from the RJ45 to the left hand screw, but it doesn't. Viewed from the top, RJ45 pin 1 goes to the right-hand screw, and RJ45 pin 8 goes to the left-hand screw. And, the screwdriver is junk... the tip bent loosening the first screw.

They work great, until you fry a circuit because one is mis-wired
I'd been building some small projects with these to have an easy RJ45 / ethernet cable interface for wiring reasons, as my home and garage have ethernet running almost everywhere. That worked great until one of my devices seemed to fry itself on initial connection to power. Took me a few hours to figure out, and fortunately I didn't just hook a new one up by recycling the same connector, because the source of the failure was this connector. Pins 3 and 6 are somehow wired together internally; see my attached picture with ohmmeter output. I've used about four others of these without the issue, but number five killed about twenty dollars worth of components when it sent power to the wrong place. So, going forward, I'm now going to have to check continuity across all 28 combinations you can make out of the eight pins before using them; that's fun...
