Ah yes, the hand-pincher 5,000
If you like your skin, keep it away from the pinch head! If it wasn't obvious, both sides close at the same time. I got in a hurry and was answering the phone and I stuck my digits where they didn't belong. Earned myself the most valuable of lessons by the most experienced teacher.... Pain!Wish it was a tad stronger..... On 60's muscle car sheet metal, it'll take 2-3 pinches to get the desired stepped edge. It's not a deal breaker, but just understand, you'll have to make a minimum of 2 passes on the panel. It does an OK job on curved paneling, but you'll have to be real careful and watch that it doesn't distort your panel. It would be a hit if it had a bit longer stroke to gain a bit more momentum for the pinch. And that would give you more room to slide it onto a panel.... The slot is pretty narrow and will not allow for burrs on your sheetmetal edge. If you cut with a die grinder or cutoff wheel, just know that you WILL have to clean the edge up some or you'll never get the tool on there. The hole punch cuts through 60's sheet metal like its made of paper. My only real gripe is the thing is so shallow that it's maybe 1/8" from the edge of your sheet metal. Good for lap joints, not so much for other things like punching out a hard to reach spot weld. (yes I'm aware that's not the intended use for this, but neither is using a ratchet as a hammer, we all have done it)Bottom line is, it does its job just well enough to be satisfactory but not stellar. Astro, if you're listening, increase the gap by at least double. Increase the strength an adittional 50% (which should be easy with the extra stroke length) and make the tool heads interchangeable even if it's not a straight forward head change. If a guy is buying this particular tool, he's not a beginner when it comes to tools/building. Do these and you'll have a huge hit on your hands. For bonus points, put a depth adjustment on it so we can choose how big of a flange we want.
