CAP BarbellOlympic Super Trap Bar and Shrug Bar for Deadlifts - Multiple Colors

I have been lifting for over 3 decades now... worked with trainers, pro athletes, peer fitness experts and the like and without a doubt FORM is the most important factor in lifting - PERIOD!I think I read all of the reviews on this bar prior to me purchasing it, and to my amazement many have complained about how this bar tips and wobbles in their hands making it difficult for them to workout. I have to tell you, after using flat trap bars, offset trap bars, multi-position grip trap bars and this bar, this one demands the most of you to use proper form. BECAUSE the weight posts are elevated off the ground to assist with weight placement, AND the multiple grip handles are set below the weight post level (on purpose) it requires the lifter to absolutely use correct form and not rush the lift. So YES, it is not the right bar for people who want to just jerk the weight off the ground or who want to rep it out quickly without regard for HOW they are lifting... because YES it will transition in your hands and get you off balance in a quick second if you do not respect proper lifting technique. So STOP COMPLAINING about its design function.I have used this bar since receiving it and I find it to be exceptionally well thought out, even though the assembly hardware leaves A LOT to be desired since it is Chinese. The bolts are soft steel and rounded so it is easy for wrenches to slip when you are tightening them up, and the handles are held in place by two bushings each with a short bolt and nut to keep them in place which lends to the handles feeling less that secure since they can move independently from each side. HOWEVER, I have solved that problem and now I have a very strong and useful trap bar that I wouldn't trade even for a "ROGUE" trap bar. Look at the pics and you will see how I have solved their handle problem... I did as follows:1. Purchased 24" of 7/16" steel bar stock.2. Cut two "axles" 8 3/4" long.3. Tapped 1/2" from each end - 7/16" x 14 thread (coarse).4. Using 7/16" drill bit I reamed out all four bushings to allow for the axles to smoothly slide though.5. Place bushings into mounting bars and into handles from outside in so they are held in place by the nuts.6. Slide axle through bushings so that approx. 1/2" thread is on each side, then using 7/16" (14 thread) nylon lock nut tighten both sides till they reach the end of the threads on each side.This should allow about a 1/16" thickness of play between the nuts and the bushings that will allow the handles to rotate freely. By using an axle that transitions through the handle to both sides you eliminate any wobble or axis movement in the handle and strengthen how the handle works with the bar for longer use life. Now the handles are solid and easily spun to any of the three grips (small, med, large) so I can innervate additional muscles (forearms for example) during deadlifts, farmer carries, shrugs, etc.So... for all the complainers out there that don't like how the bar rocks when you "snatch" the bar up... SLOW DOWN and focus on your form and you won't have that problem. Strength comes from control of the weight through motion NOT being able to lift the most that you can as quickly as you can for as many times as you can. Remember you have to live with your body for the rest of your life... take care of it, you only get ONE!

Great product. Easy to assemble. I like the three different grips sizes. Each grip is textured but not rough like the grips for an Olympic bar. I ran athletic tape around each handle to ensure it won’t slip out of my hand. Only thing I’d change is the grip texture. Until then, I’d recommend to buying a couple of rolls of athletic tape.

Like many others have noted the paint was chipped in few places fresh out of the box. This was annoying but not a deal-breaker because if your a halfway serious weight lifter banging this thing around a gym I'd expect to have that at some point anyway.The assembly instructions were poor in my opinion, but some common sense and you can fumble your way through it. It would have probably helped if I had an extra pair of hands helping with it so your experience may be a lot better than mine.Some have talked about a balance issue. I did not experience that at all on mine. Fully loaded it seemed to balance well.Other than those two issues it's a great piece of equipment for the money. I like for my gym equipment not only function well but also look appealing at the same time and this definitely fits those criteria.
