The Heavyweight Champion Of My Collection
This pen is hefty. I haven't weighted it or anything, but it feels like holding a half a pound of metal. That's the bad part of the weight. The good part of the weight is that it's bottom heavy. If it were concentrated in the top of the pen, it would be harder to write with, but it's on the bottom. So the first one of these I got had a quality issue. The ink was dripping out between the seams in the top of the nib. So I returned it. Amazon was great about getting me a replacement very quickly. Now for the fun stuff.1) The cap has a built-in fidget! That plastic marble is secure, but it spins so freely that you'll get hours of enjoyment out of it! If you have ADHD like I do, having a fidget built in to your pen is a dream come true.2) The cap posts in the most interesting way. It screws onto the back end. You can fidget without the cap even budging! It's awesome. I have over four dozen pens, and the dragon king is the only one I have that screws onto the back end.3) Even with a fine nib, it's a smooth writer. It lays down a nice line. If you turn the nib 45 degrees to the right when you're writing with it, you get beautifully varying line thicknesses.4) The grip is nice and comfortable. It's not a pain to write with in that aspect at all.5) If you lean it up more toward vertical, the nib is still smooth.6) The pen displays nicely on a stand. In summary, the only con about this pen is the weight, and even that is concentrated toward the bottom. The pen is fun and beautiful, and a pleasure to write with. There is a built in spinner for hours of enjoyment. It's a great pen.

4 stars for looks
I was not expecting anything on a par with the Visconti Dragon pen (I am not spending $5000.00 either) so I opted for this. It's fun, suits the Year Of The Dragon (it's from Jinhao). As a writer it is just so-so but $29.00 vs, $5000.00, a no brainer.

Love it.
The media could not be loaded. I am new to fountain pens. I am experienced with technical pens though. I have been collecting affordable fountain pens to experience the ink and nib combinations, thinking aesthetics is not my thing, so long as it draws. I love to draw. I got this because it sparks my imagination. I really lose myself in my art, so I get the feeling I am in a dungeon with a magic wand that draws the future. The pen I received is as advertised. I agree that the ball on the top is loose and spins but that is even better, because it is a cat's eye bead and the spinning motion causes light to play with it.I loaded it with Noodlers First Emperor of China Red Fountain Pen Ink. It looks like dragon's blood.I'm sure that many people would think it is kind of too ornamental. I couldn't afford anything like the Montegrappa Game of Thrones Iron Throne Fountain Pen limited edition, so this will have to do.This is my first fude nib and I absolutely love it. I can get the finest line and turn it at a lower angle as I draw the line toward me and increase the thickness as I change the angle. Increase the angle and thin the line also. That is something I hadn't really felt when drawing with a more flexible nib. I only feel short broad stroke are done and then start the next stroke? This pen will vary line just by the way I rock my hand as I am pulling the nib over paper.Super nice to have the line variation. It is like having several pen nibs in one pen.It is a fine writer if I reverse the nib and write with it. I signed my name with it even though I do not intend to write with any of my pens really. This pen is super heavy but I still like the feel.At first I noticed the bands around the pen are gold and the dragon is more like pewter. After thinking about it for a while I decided it looks better because the dragon is distinguished from the rest of the ornamental design of the pen by it's color. The depth of the dragon design gives it a very 3-D look and feel. The ink cartridge is the international standard cartridge and can be filled with any bottled ink like Noodlers. I would only use ink for fountain pens. I know from experience that anything else can ruin the pen.The cap screws on when posted.I spent hours just petting my dragon.
