Remo OCEAN DRUM®, 16" Diameter, 2 1/2" Depth, Standard

I am a sound healer and yoga teacher and this has easily become one of my favorite tools. Whenever I use it during a group Sound Bath meditation or at the end of a yoga class I have students and clients asking what it was when I'm done. The vibrations and sounds that come from this drum are amazing! I first experienced it for myself at a group drum circle and the facilitator came up behind me with this drum and played it over my head. The goose bumps and chills went right down my spine and practically lifted me off my feet. I ordered one as soon as I got home!The quality of this instrument is very high. Depending on how strong I want the wave sound to be as I play it over someone I either play it skin side down or for a stronger sound, the clear side.I live in land-locked Tennessee and this quickly transports me and my clients to the beach through the magic of sound and vibration.

It takes a moment to get used to it. But you can recreate the patterns and sounds of fast, loud waves, to slow, gentle ones. I was obsessed since I first heard it in a sound bath in a yoga room, but holding it and playing the instrument is a different experience. You feel the surrounding vibrations all around you, and inside. It's very empowering as with just the tiniest balancing changes of your two hands, and the rhythm of your breath, you can create such a majestic and natural sound. I feel like a kid with a rattle I don't want to put down.

This is beautifully made and feels wonderful to hold and play. It is very loud which is not a bad thing for me since I want to be able to use it for groups but I can see how it would be too loud if you want to use it for your own personal meditations. I found tutorials on how to use this as a drum and it is a lot of fun!

When I went to an outdoor sound healing bath, of all the beautiful instruments played, crystal bowls, chimes and ocean drum, the ocean drum was my FAVORITE!! I had to add it to my crystal bowl sound healing, too!! It really does take you to the ocean!! =)

Love this drum! It is pretty loud but I love the dramatic sound. My clients (energy healing) love it. It is great for clearing blocked emotion.

Really love this instrument. Still learning how to get optimal sounds out of it. May take a bit of practice. At times I feel I'm at the ocean shore. The sound may be too loud, especially if used in a small space. Thus, I kept the drum in its shipping box. Works perfect! Totally worth it!

Harsh, very loud. Tried wrapping it in towel which helps some. Not so pleased.
