that was sturdy (withstand tumbles and horseplay)
I purchased this to replace a cheap e-collar that didn't work properly from the start. Consistency is key when training a dog, especially with a bulldog which can tend to be stubborn.I was looking for an e-collar that was very reliable (that responded every single time I pressed a button and not once every 3-4 times), that was sturdy (withstand tumbles and horseplay), waterproof (snow), didn't take long to charge (who wants to wait 12-14 hours?), had a lot of levels (to adjust to my dog's needs), had a long range. We got everything in this collar and more. The remote feels a bit heavier than what I've used before, it's definitely built to a higher standard than others and it fits great in my hand (I'm Steve's wife). Same with the collar - the collar itself is very thick plastic, seems almost indestructible which is awesome. It's long and has plenty of holes to adjust to for perfect fit. The receiver on the collar it just as well built as the remote. It can be turned off by touching a red dot on the receiver to a red dot on the remote (thanks to a magnet behind the red dots) so there's no risk of an accidental off while running around in the field. It takes only 2 hours to charge from a complete drain and both the remote and the receiver can be charged at the same time. Haven't had the chance to test battery life yet, but after 24 hours, the battery still shows as full on the remote and the light is still flashing green on the collar indicating a full charge. The wide range of levels allowed us to determine exactly where we need to be to correct our dog without being over-correcting : 45 is our base level to get her to pay attention, and 70 when she's super excited and into her "intense focus" mindset. The dial to adjust the intensity level also has a bit of resistance to it, so there's less of a chance it will change on its own in our pocket for example. So far, we're very pleased with this collar. The only Con that I would have would be that it doesn't have a Tone feature, which my dog responded well to with the cheaper collar we had before. Oftentimes we'd be able to pinpoint what she was planning on doing before she started and could "tone" her into not doing it. Vibration is what we use now, but I still would've preferred a Tone feature on it.Pros:- Very reliable (collar is triggered every time a button is pressed)- Solid build (enough to withstand dings, bumps, tumbles and horseplay)- Collar has plenty of holes to adjust to a perfect fit- Waterproof- Fast charging- Can charge both the remote and the collar simultaneously- Battery life seems quite long- Plenty of levels to adjust to your dog's needs- Long range- Very sturdy collar- Battery life indicator on both the remote and the handset- Dial to adjust intensity has some resistance to it to avoid accidentally changing the levelCon:- No tone featureWhen it comes to training, go with something that is reliable - it'll make training a LOT easier for both you and your dog. This will get the job done. It's pricey, but well worth it.

It works - Watch your battery
I'd had gotten to my wits end. Spent so much on training. I'd used other collars. This has solved my deer chasing issue. "Leave it" and he does now. We even have less barking in our yard. He is excited when he sees the collar because he knows a fun walk is ahead. He is happier. I'm happier. If you have any doubts about it hurting your guy, put those away. Your dog hurting himself is a way worse alternative. Hurting area wildlife or your neighbors dogs or property? - unacceptable. Spend the money. Get your life (and your walk) back. We can go off leash and it is incredibly liberating. The range is wonderful and he knows it. We can now sit on the porch and not have him run off and completely loose control. I can share my porch with him at my feet and a glass of wine and we can calmly watch the deer and other dogs walk by. And it's been less than a month. It has been liberating. Life changing. Worth every penny.

This is THE ONLY collar I would buy
This is an AMAZING collar. I have a Chesapeake Bay Retriever who is a professionally trained field trial dog. I have seen people with the lesser collars burn their dog over and over (abuse) as the collars do not have adjustments. I put this strictly on VIBRATE and one level 1. That's all it takes and he's paying attention. I have not had to use the zapper. If I did I would NEVER go about #1 or #2. Even the most stubborn dog, IF TRAINED ON A COLLAR PROPERLY will respond. I NEVER would recommend a training collar to any owner who isn't trained how to train on the collar! It's cruel and abuse to expect a dog to heal or come because you have an electrical zapper in your hand.... USE this device ONLY if you are willing to train YOURSELF and then TRAIN the dog on what it is and how to use it. It's not a toy.I highly recommend this product to the knowledgeable, tained individual. Others, Use a harness. It's not your dogs fault you don't know how to train him.

Dogtra 1 Advance Training Collar
This product was recomemded by out breader trainer. They train many dogs for both protection, tracking and service work. Packing charging and operations seems clear and concise. I even tried it on my arm and was able take about a level 50 on nick. I like the features of nick which is momentary operation and continious which goes up to 12 seconds. This model has a 3/4 mile range. I havn't tested it but can't a think of a time when I would use it at a point where I could barely see my dog. The range is impressive though. I have gotten very differing views from excellent trainers on the best use such as the use of nick or continious feature corrections to achieve behavour changes. This model is easy to use and the collar unit is heavier than the lower models so if size is a consideration you may want to look at lower range models with smaler lighter collar recievers. The blinking green light reature is also great to locate your dog in the dark.
