New American Bible Paperback – 1 Jan. 1987

I bought this on the advice of a friend who is a Priest.I find it easier to read than the standard King James Versionand this version has titles on each segment so you can easily find sections againI am very pleased with this purchase

The NAB is an excellent study bible. It has helpful introductions to individual books, copious footnotes and cross references. I personally like the first edition of this Bible, which has some bold idiosyncratic translations that you wont find anywhere else - eg Proverbs 22:19, "I make known to you the words of Amen-em-Ope". The footnote explains that Amen-em-Ope was an Egyptian (!) wisdom teacher, whose ideas are both adopted and adapted in Proverbs. How bold is that. Note though that if you wish to get the first edition of the NAB, you will need to find it second hand, as the red covered one here is the second edition [Amen-em-Ope sadly has been edited out].
