We all know this is a bad idea.
My 1TB HDD (Storage) has kicked the bucket and I'm looking to upgrade my PC in a few years so I didn't want to have to buy a SATA SSD to then want to buy an NVMe SSD in a few years. I've already patched my (10 year old) PC a few times with a SATA 125GB and 250GB drives. This will work perfectly on my PC that has a x16 and 2 x1 slots to let me use the PCIe slot to drive my M.2 SSD at a fraction of the speed!

OK, but a flawed concept.
This works, and if all you've got free in your PC is a X1 PCIe slot but you need extra storage it's a viable solution........ BUT, it's important to know that trying to cram data to/from an M.2 through a single PCIe channel he's going to cause the drive to run a lot slower than it could in pretty much any other type of adapter.
