GoPro Hero7 Black — Waterproof Action Camera with Touch Screen 4K Ultra HD Video 12MP Photos 720p Live Streaming Stabilization

Firstly the HyperSmooth setting is genuinely impressive. Even going down rough, rocky trails on a mountain the footage is shockingly smooth. I used the chest mount which worked very well. I did have a video sample on this review but it looked awful once uploaded. I guess it was whatever processing Amazon does to videos you upload as I uploaded the video to Youtube and Vimeo with no problems.The stabilization in the TimeWarp (hyper lapse video) mode is not quite as good as in the HyperSmooth mode but works well. When I used TimeWarp while mountain biking it was watchable but a little rough. When I used it while on a road bike with was very smooth.The SuperPhoto HDR setting in photo mode also works shockingly well. I’ve been pleasantly surprised with the images it produces in the linear FOV with SuperPhoto turned on.I haven’t had any of the connection and setup issues that others have noted. I have a Google Pixel 2 and was able to download the GoPro app, turn on the Camera, install updates, and have it up and running with no problems at all. I know it varies by iOS vs Android and what phone you are using, but if you have a Pixel 2, you shouldn’t have any issues. Hopefully. I didn’t anyway. Cross your fingers.My only negative thing to say so far is the battery life is not great. You may as well go ahead and buy at least one more battery and the multi-battery charger. Turning off wireless connections while filming definitely helped with battery life but on the other hand it is also really nice to use your phone to control it with using it.All in all I really like it. I haven’t had a GoPro since they didn’t have touch screens. This is the first one with enough features to entice me back into the GoPro world. This one is easy to use. It produces good footage. It’s waterproof and rugged. I can use it as an action camera and as a small point and shoot travel camera. That is basically what I’ve been hoping a GoPro could be at some point and I feel like this one actually delivers on that.

I personally have been a fan of GoPro's over the years. I've had close to almost all of them and the few I didn't, I had the chance to see how they performed overall. This is the one GoPro up to this point that I have invested in a few of them now. I've never done that ever. I've never thought to myself that it was so neat I really needed another when I had a few others I could use, but the Hero 7 Black does so much I really find it hard to use any of my older GoPro's durning the filming process. The image stabilization is amazing! This action camera really makes anyone that isn't very good filming look pretty decent. I've been filming RC (remote control) vehicles over many years using these and it takes a super steady hand to get some awesome shoots. This has allowed me to relax a bit more while filming and driving at the same time and still get some better than ever shoots. That's what is amazing. There is more to it than just filming little RC vehicles. The TimeWarp feature is one of the coolest things I've played around with. I've never liked putting together time lapse videos but the fact that this thing can do a pretty neat time lapse is so cool! Yea they have fixed a lot with some of there updates, but it is so worth getting one and doing some neat stuff with it. Vlogging with one is amazing. The built in mic's are better than ever. I'm pretty impressed with the sound quality and then if you add a mic setup it is, Wow! So for what this thing can do out of the box is amazing, but just messing with some of the features can enhance the quality so much.So over all this is well worth getting one. You will be impressed with everything you can do just with the basic's and if you decide to set it up to do some amazing things you will be blown away!

I've owned every generation of the GoPros and purchased one of these for professional work just to check out if they are really THAT much better. There are two key features that you will want to upgrade to if you have a 6 Black.1. The new image stabilization can handle all the way up to 4k at the full frame rate. It looks like you have the camera mounted to a gimbal or tripod. It's amazing how good it works, I can go run or ski down a hill and it looks perfect, no more jitter. The old go pros had that bouncing affect , the new 7 Black looks like a professional film crew shot them!2. The live stream option, the ability to take all your awesome shots and stream them directly to facebook live or instagram is awesome!I sold all my 6 Blacks and moved to 7 Blacks just for the stabilization reason. It should be noted that the 1080p stabilization is pretty much the same, it really only matters at 4k , so if you don't want to shoot in 4k just go with the older version, but why not shoot in a higher format and just down convert it later. You will be future proof when you want to show your grand kids one day the amazing things Grandma or Grandpa used to do in 2019!
