Good country ham
Had difficulty finding country ham like back home in Kentucky since moving to Kansas. Ray’s made the family happy.

Like the country hams I grew up eating
I was born in the American South and grew up eating my uncle's "home" cured country ham. Rays comes closest to what I remember of Uncle Clarence's hams

A must buy country ham!
I have been trying for years to get some good country ham. Seeing the cure time takes so long. It is usually only available a couple times a year. So I was hesitant to purchase. Thankfully I purchase it and to my surprise the ham was better than I could ever have expected. If you love country ham . This is a must buy and try. I know you will be a continuous customer.

Country Ham Just Like My Grandfather's
I grew up in NC eating my grandfather's country ham he always made when they slaughtered hogs. I haven't lived in NC for 25 years and have never found an acceptable substitute. I refuse to eat country ham unless it is NC salt-cured. I thought I'd never have another acceptable piece of country ham again. That is until my husband surprised me with a box of Ray's Country Ham from Mt Airy, NC (which is the home of Andy Griffith and my college roommate!). The package says it is pre-cooked but country ham afficanados know it needs to be finished off in a cast iron skillet. One bite of this scrumptiousness immediately took me back to my childhood, when I would wake up and smell my grandfather's country ham being cooked by my grandmother. Thanks for the memories and the taste of home!!!

Down home cooking.
This was the first buying this product. It brought back so many memories of my grandmother cooking breakfast. I grew up eating country ham biscuits. The flavor was all that I remembered. I grew up in the hills of Tennessee. One taste of this was magical. If you want a true taste of the south, you have to go no further than buying this product. My grandmother would be proud to serve it. She's gone now, but the memories live on forever. She grew up curing her own hams and taught me. Thanks for the memories, if only for a moment.

Extremely high salt contact
It appears that this product is brine treated because it's smoke flavored and very heavy with salt content, ( 1270 mg of salt in a 2 oz slice, or about 53% of daily salt consumption). Admittedly, in placing my order I was not aware that the salt content is so high, and in all honestly the excessive salt taste somewhat overtakes the excellent ham flavor, and for me, simply not consumable in it's current form, however I will par boil the product each time I prepare for consumption, and I think the salt content will be cut in half to about 630 mg per 2 oz portions, still on the high side of salt content, but acceptable both from the taste and reasonable health concerns. All of this being considered, this still is the best ham I've ever consumed !!!!!!!!!!!!

Country ham is salt cured.
So many people complaining it is salty. Country ham is salt cured so therefore salty. Product was delicious after soaking slices for several minutes. I highly recommend this product, some of the best I’ve had in quite a while.
