Decent lamp at a reasonable price. Quality appears good.
At first we though the conical corn light would not shine enough of the their light output onto our work surfaces. We ordered a couple and tested them, finding that they in fact do work. When 16 or so were installed and light measured at the work surface we were surprised and pleased. We use them in a manufacturing facility, where light is very important. They certainly beat the metal halide lights that are being replaced, especially for reliability, economy in electric usage and labor savings and safety (encountered when constantly replacing lamps on a high ladder) as compared to the metal halide lamps. They produce less heat and make a far better light that does not 'yellow out' after awhile like the metal halides. We definitely recommend these 80 Watt lamps for spaces where the lights can be mounted no more than 12 feet above the floor. Naturally they are made in China, but the construction quality looks good. We have had about 16 of the 80 Watt lamps installed for about 80 months and so far no failures. Oh, and as an aside, we really like the 'instant on' feature of these LED lights. Finally, these lamps so far have been readily available at Amazon for some time, which is definitely a positive when you need to purchase these in batches.

Easy replacement
Great replacement bulb for outdoor replacement for old style 175W Mercury bulb without the ballast (transformer).Lower wattage, long life and good lumens.

Working well as a replacement for metal halide.
Giving it 5 stars for now as it works. Replaced an existing 400W metal halide exterior flood light. I removed the ballast, capacitor, and made a few other modifications to the old housing as this bulb is much larger that the previous metal halide. The Corn Bulb is still a little big for the existing housing so make sure you think carefully about bulb size if making a similar switch. It puts out a lot of light for 80W, not as much as the 400W metal halide though! Using a photocell to turn it on and off daily. Only been installed about 4 weeks. We will see how well it holds up. I switched mainly because at least once a year I had to replace the metal halide bulb and capacitor, and twice I replaced the ballast over about an 8 year period. I am hoping this bulb will last at least 5 years without any service, that would make the $ work out.

Great product!
I used this 80 W bulb to replace 250 W high pressure sodium bulbs in my parking garages. It took 10 minutes to modify the fixture to accommodate a direct wire bulb like this. This bulb works as well as other led bulbs that are 4 times more expensive. I've replaced 20 of them so far and the energy savings should cover the cost over a 2 year period. This bulb projects a lot of light and my building owners are very very happy with the results. I highly recommend this product.

Funnel Shape Directs Light
Update Sept 2020 - second bulb has begun to fail at about the 18 month point. I noted its application use in the original post, below. One additional con - the bulb interior fills up with bugs if used outdoors in an open light fixture. The bulb has multiple light panels surrounding a cooling fan in the center. The bugs manage to squeeze between the panels and completely fill up the interior space to the point where they actually prevent the fan from turning. Be prepared to debug the bulb once a year or no cooling will lead to an even earlier failure.Update Mar 2020 - first of two bulbs purchased has failed, giving it a life of about 18 months since purchase. Application was an outdoor pole-mounted security light controlled by a photo cell. Roughly equivalent to 9 months of 24/7 continuous use. Given that LED's are supposed to last practically "forever", this is a disappointingly short life. Minus one star.Original post - I bought this to replace a dead security light bulb specifically because of its unique shape, screw base adaptors, and top or bottom mounting options.Pros:* For my security light, I wanted to direct more light toward the ground rather than wasting wattage by sending light sideways or up. I'm pleased to report that this bulb does just that.* It's supplied with screw bases that fit either standard residential sockets or larger industrial lighting sockets, like older MV security lights.* It can be mounted either cone up to direct more light to the ceiling or cone down to direct light to the floor.* Appears to be of good construction, unlike so many LED bulbs from China.Con - Made in China, but what LED bulb isn't these days?Notes:* My application is 120VAC* The light is bright white.* It's too bright for some confined applications. For example, using it in a residential garage fixture would be fine for short periods of time, but the pinpoint light source is hard on the eyes over the longer term (think of a super bright incandescent bulb without a diffuser of any type). Also, a single bulb in that application casts very dark shadows.* It has a 3-4 second delay to come on. Not a problem, the bulb transformer just needs to power up.No data on longevity yet, but so far it's great in a general area security light application.

BEST BULB IN THE WORLD.
I was scared of these lights for several reasons. The price was the biggest of all. I decided to buy them after about 3 months of considering other options. I wish I had bought them months ago. They are the brightest bulbs I have ever seen. I put them in our church. There are only 4 lights in the sanctuary with one socket each and we have always had trouble with lightning (very very dark). In the past, I put splitters in each light so I could use 4 100w bright white CFL bulbs. One of these bulbs is brighter than all 16 CFL bulbs we had. If they last, I will purchase more for other places.

Big and Bright!
A bought a pair of these "corncob" bulbs to light the other half of my garage. If you glance that direction it really does seem like daylight in there now, it has fooled me more than once into thinking I'd left the garage door open. Pay particular attention to the thread size, these bulbs have an oversize thread and you'll need an adapter to fit a standard household light socket. I bought an adapter from the same company and it worked well. Also note that these bulbs are approximately the shape of a two liter soda bottle so make sure you have plenty of room.
