Great for airbrush work
There's a good reason this is the gold standard for masking while airbrushing. It's simply the right peoduct for the task.

A Must-Buy for Hobbyists
If you want to get clean lines on your models, you're going to want good modelling tape. And Tamiya delivers. With the dispenser, you can just tear out a strip of the desired size and slap it right onto the model. It will adhere to the model's surface very well, ensuring you don't get paint where you don't want it to go, and comes off easily when you're finished without leaving any adhesive residue or damaging the undercoat. And with the three rolls of tape you get in this set, you'll have enough tape to last you for quite a while so grab your airbrush, get your paint out, and happy hobbying.

Tamiya Masking Tape, when regular masking tape is just too big!
I've been meaning to give Tamiya tape a try for awhile now. I was a little put off by the cost for it at the local hobby lobby so I ordered it here on Amazon. What you get: You get a dispenser with a roll of tape in it, and two spare rolls for a little less than twice the cost of a single roll at your local hobby shop. The tape is thin with a medium tack to it. I have heard of problems with Tamiya Tape pulling up the paint from the model but I haven't had that issue yet. The dispenser is made of two parts, a grey body and a clear lid. The lid pops off easily to insert the refill. The teeth to tear the tape are molded into the body of the dispenser which is made of plastic so make sure your dispenser doesn't get banged around as the teeth will be susceptible to damage. I had a friend 3d print me a holder for them that will hold the 6, 10 and 18mm rolls. Would definitely buy again.

but this tape is so much better than most others for hobby use
Never expected I would write a review about masking tape, but this tape is so much better than most others for hobby use. I have used it on lexan bodies with great success. I am not saying you cannot get good results with ordinary masking tape, however the difference here is the almost pinstripe thickness that allows you to follow contours and make turns without lifting. (just make sure your surface is clean from dust, debris, and oils, otherwise most, if not all tapes will fail or allow bleeding underneath)See the pic for the radius I could make on scrap lexan sheet. I could make approximately 90 degree turn in 1 half inch space. (you will have to allow inside edge to wrinkle up a bit, so you could not make a stripe with this tight a turn, but very good for edges) Notice how minimal the bleeding is with minimal prep work before spraying. Note: The 3rd pic is over white paper and not painted.
