Decent camera
I bought this camera almost as a disposable item to use in some very 'difficult' conditions. The camera is used to record footage in extreme conditions from very wet to very dusty placements.I am a caver and mine explorer. I bought this camera because of two reasons:1) The lens is wide: I can turn the camera around and film myself talking whilst keeping my head in frame and focus.2) The sensor is decent in low light: Being a mine explorer, all my footage is in darkness - and I mean 'real - complete darkness' with just one candle or light source to provide enough light to allow recording.I'm not new to this camera and before purchasing I did a lot of research into the best piece of equipment that I could purchase (at a low cost, less that £500) that I could use to capture scenes and footage from within places that are deep underground, places that I may only visit once in a lifetime that may be impossible to access a second time (so the hardware HAD to to reliable).I'll cut this review short:I use the Panasonic is terrible conditions, loads of water and dust. The camera does not complain and continues to produce good footage. It is not sold as being 'waterproof' but so far the thing seems to keep going as long as I don't submerse it completely. I've attached a Hoya DSLR screw-on lens protector to the front of the camera as the 'trapdoor' built-in cover would allow loads of dust to contact the optics. The fold out screen is responsive and brilliant in its operation. One area that I've found to be a weak point is the hinge where the main circuit board is slightly visible between the screen and the camera body - this has so far not caused any area of concern as being aware of the open orifice, I keep wet hands and mud away from this area and is one of the first places that I dry with a paper towel after a heavy soaking. The screen is responsive, not as good as a quality mobile phone - but still not sluggish. This is the main point: Why did I not go for the 4K model? The 4K version has a narrower lens, because I want to film inside tight situations such as inside a mine tunnel or small cave cavity, I needed a lens that would be able to focus in very near situations. The camera can capture the close footage with no problems. Also 4K is not that common on YouTube etc - and I tend to process video at 1080P rather than 4K.To sum up: Would I buy this camera again? : YES. 100% - the battery is decent with good quality replacement available, the footage is good in low light (which is why I bought it), and the thing does not want to die in terrible conditions so the quality must be good!. The lens is wide and decent quality for selfies and the sound can be improved with an external mic (via the external adapter).

Superb camera with exceptional sound recording
I use this for indoor shooting doing music videos. I was a bit skeptical about the video quality having read some of the reviews on You Tube. but I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. I found the 4K video to be really clear, Of course I do use video lights to compensate for low light. But even without the lights the quality is very good. Be aware there is no zooming with this whilst filming there are four zoom setting which have to be set before recording. But they are perfect for my needs.Needless to say the audio recording is faultless. I haven't yet tried with external mics but the on board stereo mics are really good. The camera was easy to sett up easy to use and produced excellent results. The one downside is the very small monitor screen. But I intend to connect to an external monitor to resolve that minor issue.

Very handy day to day camcorder
Bought 2 years ago to record steam locos. Will give avery acceptable image from full sun to recordings at night, including a fireman and driver lit only by the light from an open firedoor! Also recorded Clun Castle at night at full pelt throughout local station. Worked on Watercress Line illuminations during an evening of heavy rain. Can't ask much more, can you?

Great for the ext mic socket and good quality too
Like most cameras it has its little issues but this is a great camera and the external mic input is the main reason I bought it. Using an external mic is so helpful. I bought the Rode mic and it's great.

Slightly better quality picture than my Sony 450x but not as versatile, but does have stop motion which Sony does not.

Good product
Very pleased with this camcorder. Only 4 stars as manual focusing is very difficult to achieve. Manual focus ring on previos model worked much better.
