A really easy and useful tool for kids. Good value because there are plenty in the pack that means you can have them available in multiple places. The different colours mean that the child can find a colour that works for them.

Reading ruler
Great life hack for reading. More so if your eyes wander from one line to the next.These are a really useful ruler to keep focus on two or three lines at a time.Can be used for a bookmark too.Made from high quality materials, these could easily be found in schools. Plenty of colours, each individually wrapped.Bigger than I expected, like a wide small ruler.

Definitely worth buying for any struggling readers!
We got these for our 11yo who has been diagnosed with dyslexia and struggles with reading, finding it discouraging. There are 16 different coloured overlays in the pack, that come with an instruction leaflet and a clear plastic protective sleeve. Each overlay has a peel-off protective film on and then a cellophane sheath too, so there was quite a bit of plastic waste once we had removed all of that packaging! Each overlay has a 'ruler' strip along it lengthways, meaning the child can choose between a narrow reading strip or a wider one, depending on which they find makes it easier to follow (ours uses the wider strip). 11yo has tested each overlay out on her books and found that most help 'a bit'. The Bluebell and Deep Green strips (colour names are in the centre of each 'ruler') were a little too dark for her to read clearly through them. She found that Magenta, Orange, Sky, Deep Blue, Purple and Lilac all made the text clearer for her and helped 'a lot'. Obviously this is likely to vary between readers, but with 16 colours to try out, you are bound to find one that will help your dyslexic reader/s best. Definitely worth buying for any struggling readers!
