DECEPTIVE: ONLY ONE TUBE
So first impression is that the listing is deceptive. It shows 2 tubes but this is a listing for ONLY 1 TUBE. So that puts the cost rather high or this item. The product itself is easily applied directly onto the bottom board. No need for a Hive Beetle trap, and in fact the product states that it is not to be used with a trap.It has a strong but pleasant peppermint aroma that I am sure the bees are going to love. I'll be trying this with a new Nuc that is delayed due to cold weather don south this year. I plan on placing a thing strip at the front and back of the bottom board in the hopes that the peppermint aroma will also deter field mice.I won't know if the product is effective for it's intended use (hive beetles) or field mouse repellent until the bees arrive and the summer and autumn season pass, but I will update either way.I took off one star for the deceptive image at the top of the listing for now. If you decide to try this just be advised that you are purchasing one tube not 2 and based on instruction may only get one or two applications.

Works without traps
This will work for your bee hives if you're in a pinch. It's a little thick. I personally like mine to have more of an oily consistency and place it in beetle traps. This one is thick and doesn't require beetle traps. Does kill the beetle bugs in the hive, so it does its job. Just a little messy without placing it in a beetle trap. Plus, the bees remove it quickly thinking it's a foreign object. So, you must use consistently. I gave it 3 stars because it does its job, but it's just messy.

Nice product to protect the work of the bees
I have been keeping bees since 2020 and last year was the first ( and hopefully the last) time that I have had small hive beetles. They are a nasty beast that can devastate a hive that will ruin any honey, pollen, brood and comb. An ounce of prevention is paramount to keep these critters out of the hive. Usually a hive can keep these things at bay but if a hive is weak or the bee keeper tries to expand the hive too quickly, then they can become a problem. This product is easy to apply on the bottom board. I like the product and it will help keep those critters out of my hive.

My arch enemy - hive beetles
The media could not be loaded. HIVE BEETLES!!!! Shakes fists to the sky…I can’t stand them. I’ve tried lots of different battle traps and even dryer sheets to catch them (I didn’t like that some bees got caught up in that too.).I opened my hive last week and saw 20 of those buggers running! Not this year buddy. I’m going to stop them before they get crazy!I’ll be taking the hive apart tomorrow and using this on the bottom board. I’ll update next time I open the hive!UPDATE - I installed a screened bottom board to my hive and put this stuff on the bottom when I first went to check the hive a few weeks after install.I spent about 45 minutes checking the hive for the new queen, and once I got her all locked up again, checked the bottom board. HIVE BEETLES! Whoever left the review that the beetles run towards this stuff wasn’t lying! There were probably 12 down there having a buffet. I smooshed them all because why leave them, but this stuff works! The beetles are just drawn to it. We’ll see how many beetles are in the hive when I go back again, but so far I’m impressed!UPDATE #2 - AHHHHHMAZING STUFF! I placed this in the bottom of one of my hives, and then forgot to put some in the second when I set it up. I did a hive inspection today two weeks later, and I found ONE beetle in a hive with two deep broods and a super. ONE. The other hive we killed about 10 beetles and multiple larve. I put some on the bottom board of that hive to get rid of anything else that may try to grow in there. The bees were unbothered by it and I found no dead bees on the bottom board near this bait. Absolutely recommend!!!

Great item, easy application
We worked bees this weekend, and part of the process involves mitacide & doing something about small hive beetles. That involves diatimacious earth. We put a lot down outside the hive, but this paste works great in the base of the hive. Ideally, I'd put this on the board below the hive (vs our vented bases), but both have the effect you want for getting rid of the small hive beetles. It applies easily, and if it means I have half the beetles in the end, I'll be happy, because that means better honey in the fall! Good investment!
