I wish these had've been around when I was a kid!
This is a REALLY fun toy. The problem is... everybody needs to have one, or you're not going to be very well liked by your playmates. The build quality is extremely poor. These are toys designed to played with by kids who are running & jumping & going crazy, but I'm confident that if I were to drop this on concrete from waist height, it would break. In this price range, I would expect MUCH better. If I'd been able to see and handle this before ordering it, I wouldn't have. Finally... I've been unable to find a way to acquire more ammunition for it. That pretty much puts an expiration date on the toy. They need to take this back to the R&D department. Cannot recommend.

Beads need to be soaked in warm water before use!
2024-10-06. Gel ball blaster toy by LsuBhef. Orby gun. Full automatic mode. Splat toy. Black with red barrel.Gel blaster pistols have gained popularity recently. They're completely legal in the US due to their use of super absorbent water beads as projectiles. These beads burst on impact and pose minimal risk in causing injury. The gel beads are made of a polymer material that is highly water absorbent. The beads need to be soaked in warm water for several hours, so they can absorb the water and "swell up". The beads are ready for use when they are 7-8 mm in diameter (about 10 times their original size).Note: DO NOT USE beads smaller than 7mm, as they may not fire if they're too small. I soaked the beads overnight and used them the next day and they were fine.Note: While the beads are highly absorbent to water, they don't retain water all that well. Over time, the water will leave the beads, shrinking their size. Soak only as many as you think you're going to use, and use everything you soak. This kit by LsuBhef comes in a printed box. Not much for a retail product or for gift giving, but passable. The kit comes with everything you need from extra magazines to plenty of beads. The pistol is powered by a 7.4V rechargeable battery (2 × 3.7V cells), and a charging cable is included. The kit also comes with a light and a "scope". I put scope in quotes because all it really is, is a dot in the center of a piece of plastic. While this may be useful for target practice, you'll never use it while running around the yard and chasing others. The light is also not much use unless you're playing in the dark. But if that is the case, you don't really know if you're hitting your target or not as these beads do not glow in the dark. Lastly, a pair of glasses is included and despite the fashion statement it doesn't make, you should wear them. Most people are not natural born snipers and errant shots will inevitably happen even when head shots are off limits. The extra magazines were useful though, especially when you have it in automatic mode. In automatic, the pistol shoots about 12 rounds per second, and the beads drain fast. The regular magazine holds about 100 beads and is good for target practice (not in full automatic mode). The extended magazine holds about 200 beads, and the gat-style mag holds about 1000 beads. The range is about 60 feet. The beads do sting a little when they hit bare skin, and how much you feel will depend on the distance it was fired from. Clothing will also effect how much you feel of course. At close range, it will feel similar to a rubber band snap. The beads pretty much obliterate on impact leaving literally no clean up.Overall, these gel blasters are pretty fun, but the system is finicky as a whole. You need to ensure that the beads are a specific size, otherwise the pistol may jam or not fire at all. But if you take you time the first go round, you'll know how it needs to be handled and used. The battery is a tight fit, and after testing everything with the sight and light, I opted to use neither as noted earlier. This kit also doesn't come with any type of case to store everything. You can put it back into the original box, but it'll take a little finagling (or and engineering degree in packaging) to get everything to fit in there without the box bulging.

Great toy
This is an awesome toy, just have to soak the gel beads before you're going to use it.

ENVIRONMENTALLY HARMFUL BEAD BLASTER ?
I got this "Gel Blaster" through the Vine Voice review program, and I'm a gamer, so to be perfectly honest, I got this toy gun to use as a prop weapon to display in my game room, with no intention of every really using it.That being said, after I started looking into what this toy really is, I really can't recommend this as a toy for kids or anyone who intends to use it for its intended purpose , especially outdoors. The webpage doesn't really explain anything about the projectiles , except to call the gun a "gel ball blaster" . I searched online and found a couple of references to "gel balls / beads" used for toy guns, and found some information saying that they are "generally" made from sodium polyacrylate. I copy and pasted a quote from one website about this substance below:"These ingredients are not directly considered to be harmful to the environment, and sodium polyacrylate is technically biodegradable - the issue, however, is that it can take an incredibly long time to break down naturally and is the reason, therefore, that many consider this a non-degradable substance."We humans are causing enough environmental devastation these days, with things like microplastics in the soil, water, and our bodies apparently. I feel like the last thing we should be doing is encouraging children to mindlessly shoot little beads all over the place, that may end up being eaten by animals, and take a very long time to biodegrade. I cannot recommend this toy with a clear conscience.
