worked great first time!
I've been using a cage trap to catch squirrels in my attic. This strategy does work but it can take a few days or even weeks to get them to go inside. I've had a pesky red squirrel that was wasn't having any of this cage so I put out this trap and bam! Got him in a couple of hours!Very happy with the performance. Well worth the price and they got it to me fairly quickly.

Doesn't Work - Never Catches A Thing, For Obvious Reasons
I've had dozens of trips of the trap, most probably by just a couple of red squirrels in my garage (these are barely above chipmunk size), without catching a thing, and not a trace of blood or fur left behind either. Not enough even happens to the squirrels to get them to avoid the traps - the traps are that bad. The same as for standard rat traps placed nearby, probably for some of the same reasons. The nails look impressive but actually are not placed in places they have a chance of working, as the plastic jaws are what would contact the animal and, if anything indeed contacts them. An obvious problem is that the trigger plate is so close to the jaws that no animal can get far enough in the trap before it trips for either the plastic jaws or the nails to work, although the traps do get set off before the bait can be taken. Whomever designed this trap did it solely to look good and sell the traps, but even cursory examination reveals that the design elements related to trapping or killing animals are obviously exceedingly poor. Simply moving the trip plate much farther back into the trap and lengthening the nails would brought the animals to a position deep enough into the trap and provided a grip that would have insured a result when the trap closes. As designed these traps are less likely to trap any squirrel or chipmunk than a standard $2 rat trap, which has a trip plate properly positioned and a spring of about equal strength. Since the $2 traps have also been ineffective on dozens of events with red squirrels, these traps have no chance. At least the $2 rat traps have trapped mice as an incidental bycatch, which these traps have not been able to do. A wire cage-type trap will work just about every time it is tripped, at about twice the price.

Worked within 24 hours, extremely easy set up
Used these for two pesky squirrels in the attic that we unfortunately could not capture humanely. I set up 4 traps near the entrances and with 24 hours, I trapped both. They were extremely easy to set up and take down. Thanks!

Not Catching Squirrels
This trap says it's an escape proof squirrel trap. Well guess what, it's not. I followed the directions completely, but the squirrel had no problem tripping both traps, escaping any damage to himself, and taking off with the food from both traps. I had one trap outside and one in the attic. I think the problem is the food cup appears to be too close to the front of the trap. I don't know, but maybe if they set it farther back it might be more successful. I did put some additional food farther back, but he still had no problem getting away completely unscathed! I am so pissed! I cannot believe that squirrel can escape two traps, no problem. Now I have to pay $400.00 for professional wildlife removal, as none of these do-it-yourself ideas are working. I am giving up as he also chewed through my A/C wiring, costing me additional pain and money! Update.... The wildlife control people I used caught the squirrel within an hour and sealed up the area where he was getting into the building. I can't believe it! I tried for three weeks at least with different do it yourself methods to no avail! Between the professional service cost and my purchases, don't forget the A/C repair, that rotten squirrel cost me at least $600.00! The only good news is that it was a young male squirrel, so they don't think there are any babies up there in the attic. Thanks be to God!

Easy to use, catches most rodents, but have not caught any squirrels yet.
I purchased these in January to catch California ground squirrels, unfortunately, I have not caught any squirrels, but I have caught birds, rats and mice. I no longer bait the trap to keep the birds from eating the bail, and I catch a rodent every week, Yes, I am disappointed that I have not caught any squirrels, but very pleased that I am riding my 6 acre wooded property of rodents that I do not have to kill like when I catch something in my live trap. I like these traps so much, I am going to purchase 2 more. I had purchased 2 live traps on Amazon and did catch a squirrel in each trap, within the first day or so, but the squirrel brok the trap and I ended up returning them. One other thing, usually when I go outside to check on my trao, I find it snapped and upside down with nothing hanging out of the trap, so I have placed surveillance camera near the trap and found that the ravens are eating what they can after I catch a rodent and when I open the trap, I only have a head with no body. Sorry don't mean to grose anyone out.

A beaver might have the mass to trigger this trap
These traps require MUCH more weight than a. rat or squirrel has to be effective! My four caught nothing, and I watched twice as squirrels touched every internal parts; they enjoyed the lure substance, as well as the peanut butter I placed in them.

Good product
I use them outside so I expected rust on the spring. Otherwise works well. I use sunflower seeds.
