Great magic arm with brilliant quick release system, looks great, price ok
The main feature of this magic arm is of course its brilliant quick release system, which I haven't seen in other devices of this type. It's just a simple press of a button and you can slide the arm out. You can also mount it in 90 degrees turns, which can be very helpful in many situations. The two positioning screws (is that Arri lock?) can be removed if they are in the way - you get a really thin allen key if you need to do it.The whole arm looks great - it's not black as most of them, but sort of inox style. Glossy, which adds to the looks, but is newer my preference because it scratches easily. It's all-metal built and very sturdy. It has a single lock system like most magic arms. What I like is that the two ball heads each have a rubber ring in the middle that adds additional resistance, so the whole system locks really quickly. You get spare rings included too - great! The arm is pretty lightweight, but can handle a maximum load of 5.5kg. This allows for many small and medium lights, mics and monitors to be attached. It really is a great product. Price wise it's a tiny bit more expensive at £45 than similar magic arms, but it has the looks and the proper quick release system on both ends. Well done Smallrig - highly recommended.Thank you for reading my review. I hope you found it helpful.

Quality is great, as you'd expect from Smallrig
Smallrig consistently produce high quality gear and this is no exception.Well machined, solid, premium feel and everything smooth and easy to use.Being a bit stupid it took me a little while to work out how to fit this to my cage handle! But it fits really securely. I like the fact that you have the two head parts and the flexibility of the angles you can move them to.In my case I'm not doing anything fancy. I'm just using it for holding a mic away from the lens (I have one lens that is a bit noisy when focusing, so the mic needs to be above and behind it).If I'm being nitpicky, I guess the silver colour looks a bit odd on the black cage handle I have, but that hardly affects the use of this.Very solid, easy and quick to mount and dismount once you connect the base part.Although the images in the listing show it as black, mine was silver when it arrived hence the comment earlier about how it looks. You can see it in the photo I've taken.

One major flaw
The media could not be loaded. This is a magic arm on steroids. Super well made, super well machined, great materials. The idea here is that instead of the magic arm being screws that you have to screw in every time you want to use it, they have mini quick release plates instead so you can leave the plate on and clip in in seconds. It works very well.It uses locking pins on each side of the base plate for added security / to stop things spinning. That solves a common problem I have with magic arms. Another great solution. Thr pins are not spring loaded do It does mean that you need a surface with holes for pins each side. Sping loaded pins would have been the win here for added versatility. The flaw - the quick release base plates need an allen key to screw them in. They don't give you that allen key! They do give you a different allen key though - a really thin one. For what? Who knows- it doesn't fit any of the screws anywhere on the product. Seriously.I want to recommend this because its great but without that allen key it's kind of impossible to use it

Versatile, sturdy and easy to use
This quick-release arm with a 360-degree ball head is above and beyond. Very easy to mount and use, the construction is solid, and the 360-degree ball head is buttery smooth and easy to adjust to achieve the desired angles. The quality, finish, and design are impressive, and the quick-release arm is well-made, versatile and sturdy. Excellent value for your money, and I would highly recommend it!
