Just keeps on working , which is what it takes to get 5 Star out of me.
This little CD/DVD Player work just fine for what I use it for, which is watching season after season of tv shows I buy off Amazon, latest being True Blood. Cheap and still working , 5 Stars..

Plays great--Right price
User manual was written for someone with better than my 74 year old eyes. Even with a magnifying glass I had a hard time reading the small print. I couldn't get it to work the 6 or 7 time I followed the instructions. Then this afternoon I tried once more. I saw that you had to restart your computer after plugging in the player. Somehow I missed that the other times I tried. I blame that on the tiny print of the user manual. Maybe this will help someone else. Good luck.

Does the job
I bought it for my new computer because it didn’t have a DVD CD drive. It feels very flimsy but seems to work just great.. I have no complaints so far.

Easy Set up
Plug & play for me. Plugged in the two USB - connected to a desktop (the 2nd one was for power). The unit powered up & in a few seconds it was fully operational! I installed an old accounting software CD & it installed flawlessly.

Does what it should and a bit more besides…small design flaws mar its capabilities.
This portable DVD burner/drive works quite well, and you can tell that the manufacturers wanted it to be a cut above its peers: one of the things they included was a permanently-attached USB cable which fits neatly into a storage slot on the bottom of the drive; this cable can be plugged into either a USB -A or USB-C port. I plugged it into my newest laptop and my computer recognized it right away without any hiccups whatsoever. I didn’t get a chance to test the drive’s burning function (I’m out of blank DVD-ROMs!), but I put it through its paces with several different CD-ROMs containing music, videos, and other files. This thing handled them all without a hitch, including the video files, which played smoothly. This portable DVD burner/drive is also meant to serve as a USB/media-card hub: there are two USB-A and two USB-C slots on top of the drive, along with one SD-card slot and one mini-SD card slot on the back. I tested a USB stick and an SD card with it; the drive performed as advertised, allowing me to browse and use the files on both media...I’m fairly certain that the other slots will perform similarly. However, this little player is not without its issues. Among them:1) The instructions. The instructions provide information on the various slots this drive has and their purpose…but the problem is that the slots in the illustrations don’t quite match the location of the slots on the actual drive, which can cause some confusion. Case in point:2) Seemingly no alternative USB-cord slot. The integrated USB cord is handy, but you only get 8 inches of reach with that...if you need more, you’d have to use another cable, and that’s where things get interesting. There IS a slot on the back of the drive that LOOKS like a USB-C slot for just such a purpose, but the included instructions don’t reference it at all. I tried plugging a USB-C cable into it and connecting it to my laptop: although this provided power to the drive, my computer failed to recognize it at all, leaving me to wonder exactly what that slot is for…and with no alternative way to plug in my drive if my work area requires more reach.Despite these minor flaws, the drive works—and arguably, works well. I would still generally recommend it, and I fully intend to put mine to use. You’ll have to decide if this item’s positives outweigh its drawbacks for you.

CD and DVD Burner and Player
I recently purchased this CD and DVD burner and player, and after using it for a few weeks, I can confidently say it's a solid and reliable device for both burning and playing optical discs.

Well-made and designed external CD/DVD drive/hub combo
While there's been a clear shift away from physical storage media, including CDs, DVDs, etc. many continue using optical drives for a range of work and leisure activities. The problem is finding drives that offer better than average performance and features--not an easy task as the larger tech industry migrates away from them. That's why I was initially intrigued and eventually highly pleased with the Taopjwr external CD/DVD drive offered through Amazon Vine.On receiving the drive, I was impressed by its heft and simple yet highly flexible portable design. It's enough to use as a regular part of a desktop set-up yet light enough to travel. The power cord has both USB A/B and Type C plugs, so it can be used with both new and older laptops and PCs. Most intriguing (to me, anyway) the drive also offers 2 USB2.0/3.0 ports, 2 Type-C ports, 1 TF card slot, 1 SD card slot and a Type-C line out, so it can function as a hub for other devices and support data transfer. That's a significant benefit for someone who regularly carries a collection of cables, connectors and dongles for cameras and other digital gear. The Taopjwr performs as advertised which is perfectly fine. I'm not fooling myself by thinking a $30 gizmo will last forever but given the handiness, cleverness and flexibility of its design, I intend to use and enjoy the Taopjwr external CD/DVD drive for as long as it lasts. Thumbs up.
