Great For Home Security As Well As Pets!
I don't currently have pets, but what I do have is a house that I regularly leave for long periods of time. This robot is absolutely ideal for keeping an eye on things while I'm away. It's significantly cheaper than installing a fixed camera security system and it's far more flexible. With this, I can remotely navigate the robot to anywhere I want, and get a close-up view of what's going on. I can even use it to look out of the full height windows to see what's happening outside. The robot automatically parks itself for a re-charge, so I never need to worry about it running out of power. If you're actually in the house, running this little robot around and using to have conversation with people is great fun, and kids absolutely love playing with it. Sending it to the kitchen with a request for snacks is a big hit, and grown up users might even have had the same idea about beers... That storage hopper is just made for the job.If you do have pets, the growing range of add-on modules is a big attraction, and a clever idea for extending the usefulness of the device. I'm sure that the interaction they make possible will be beneficial for lonely or nervous stay-at-home pets. The video quality from the camera is excellent (including at night), and the wide-angle camera makes it easy to see what's going on, and to navigate your way around via the app. Controls are simple and intuitive, and the two-way communication is clear, with good audio. I notice very little latency with my setup, but it will vary tremendously depending on your local conditions and the speed of your connection. Controlled via mobile data you likely will have a bit of latency. I stick to wifi whenever possible if I' accessing the system remotely. All of this is usable for free, but if you pay a monthly subscription you get added benefits including scheduled patrols and detection of braking glass and human movement, both of which are great for active security.CONCLUSIONThis is a really fun, and very useful device. If I had a stay-at-home pet I'd definitely want to consider getting one. In my situation though, being able to take a live tour around my house while I'm away gives me huge peace of mind and lets me sleep more easily. Even if you do have an existing camera system, owning a mobile unit that can navigate the entire floor area at your command is big bonus, adding significant capability. For the capabilities and features this device provides me it's fantastic value for money, and I recommend it as a five star purchase.

Very good image
The media could not be loaded. Very surprised about the video quality, for a product to monitor the house and your pet is higher quality than expected. You need to install the app and register so you can start using the product. Once you are fully registered you can link your phone with the bot.The base is small and easy to set in a corner so it doesn't bother you. The bot can walk around and set back into place. It comes ready for the camera monitoring but the dispenser of treats is separate so keep that in mind when purchasing. You get the basic usage with the general product.

Good - but not cheap
I was looking for something to entertain and distract my dog on the rare occasions I need to leave her for a couple of hours or so. I had thought of a fixed WiFi camera with sound but wasn’t convinced she would pay attention to a fixed camera which would probably have to mounted high up. I already have a few ‘smart’ gadgets in the house so am comfortable adopting new technology if it provides actual benefit to daily life. The Enabot ROLA PetPal seemed to fit the bill for my requirements quite well so I ordered one. The price at the time of review is £239 so it’s not a cheap piece of kit and you need to fairly certain it will be used to get the best out of it. On taking everything out of the box, all components appear to be well made and well packaged. There are no sharp edges and it provides an overall quality feel. The instruction booklet suggests you charge it fully before setting up – which I did despite it have a decent charge already. Much like a robot vacuum cleaner, the PetPal has a base station which acts as a charging point. The software was easy to download onto a phone and I was soon able to view good quality images on my mobile phone from the next room and to save an image. My dog has the run of the house when I go out but spends most of her time in the hall, lounge or kitchen – as verified by the PetPal! I placed the base station in the kitchen where we have hard floors and it had no problem making the slight rise onto the carpet in the hall/lounge. Clearly it couldn’t follow her up the stairs, but she only goes there when we’re at home. She was somewhat surprised the first few times we tried the bot – particularly when we spoke to her through it. After turning her head to one side a number of times, she finally got used to it. I feel she found it quite reassuring to hear us through the PetPal and it certainly seemed to quieten her if she got too excited. Overall, I am quite impressed with this item although it is not cheap!
