Beautifully done. I benefited from the teachings as I had learned them from the past, but needed a refresher course!

Great book
This has turned out to be a great book. I thought I knew everything about this subject and it’s given me some wonderful insights to ponder. I also like the quality of the book. The cover looks nice and the paper texture on the cover was a good choice.

Encouraging and Highly Accessible
This book explores an often-neglected Christian doctrine, explaining what it means for Christians to be "one with Christ," and not just disciples and followers of Christ. Sam Allberry writes in a conversational, engaging tone, reflecting on what it means for the Christian life for Christians to be "in Christ." This book explores doctrines related to salvation, life in the church, and our continued growth in holiness. The book ends with a chapter about "continuing in Christ." I would have liked to see an additional chapter about our union with Christ in eternity, but there were multiple references throughout the book that pointed to resurrection life in Christ.Allberry expresses complex theological ideas in simple terms, focusing on the biblical essentials of each topic without getting into side debates. Although some people may prefer a more in-depth approach to the topic with fewer stories and personal examples, this book is a great example of how to write about Christian doctrine in a way that is accessible and enjoyable for people who wouldn't normally pick up a theology book. This offers thorough biblical teaching in simple, relatable language, with stories and illustrations to help readers grasp more abstract or confusing concepts. This is a great book for Christians who want to grow in understanding their relationship with Jesus, and this will be especially helpful for new believers. Also, even though this book does not include a prepared discussion guide, it would be great for church groups to study together, since it covers so many essential truths. This book will help readers better understand the gospel and its implications, and it is full of encouragement and practical applications for the Christian life.I received a free copy from the publisher, and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

Great book!
I really enjoyed this book! It’s extremely easy to read and grabs your attention! As it delves into the New Testament, it does a great job of explaining just what it means to be “in Christ” and closer to God, in a way that isn’t all theological but is relevant to todays world and all generations.

Thought Provoking! Life Changing Clarity
I was inspired and encouraged by Sam Allberry’s One with My Lord: The Life-Changing Reality of Being in Christ. Allberry does fascinating and exploratory work to capture the heart and attention of believers. This deeply insightful work successfully attempts to reconnect readers with their true identity as “Christians” in today’s world. It profoundly explores the deeper meanings of what it truly means to be “in Christ.”

Great Insight and Reflection of What it Means to be "in Christ"
As I was reading, I kept debating between 4 and 5 stars. Most of the substance, I do not have issue with. In fact, I think that this delivers a very important message to the church. Putting on a perspective that Christians are "in Christ" really can have powerful day-to-day impact. The author points out that the word Christian is only used 3 times in the OT. The NT mostly has Christians referring to themselves as those who are "in Christ".This is explored well in the first two chapters. I would say that the most impactful message is found in the beginning of the book. The rest of the book explores what are the implication of being "in Christ". The implications listed are each explored in their own chapter. It's not a direct list taken from the Bible but a selected list from the author as he sees them in scripture. The list is fine though you could probably add some or remove some.I was somewhat disappointed that my favorite part of the book was all in the beginning. The author is also has a lot of illustrations from real life and fiction that drive his points across. They mostly seemed well-done but I can't remember I read that used this many. It's not my preferred teaching tool but that's probably a personal preference issue. Neither of these two reasons were enough for me to give this book only 4 stars. The entire book is useful and encouraging. The chapter headings show what the implications are. They are all ways that the author sees an impact for being "in Christ". Some include being blessed, saved, justified, new, holy, together, and continuing.
