Wow!
I tried to make it myself, one is a 7 days and one is 5. I am impatient :) so I ordered this. It arrived yesterday, I followed step by step and it’s already double. It’s the jar with the red cover (it’s over a loss’s lid). I am so excited. Customer service is outstanding, I emailed last night with a question and woke up to a response. That’s what keeps me a loyal customer! Middle is 7 days and right one in 5

Wow! Just wow!
I made my own homemade stater from scratch and have been babying it for about two months. I realize that is extremely young in the life of a starter and hope that it will continue to grow stronger as it ages. I have had a few mostly successful loaves that have good flavor, but the texture was quite dense for my preference. I bought this starter with no great expectations, mostly just to see how 100+ year old starter would compare to my baby starter. I actually forgot about it and left it in the mailbox for several days before I even picked it up. Then, once I got it home, I forgot about it for a couple days more as it got left in my car. When I finally got the poor thing in the house and fed it, it was impressively robust. After the second feeding (day 2), I had to transfer it to a larger jar, because it pushed the lid off of the 1/2 liter Weck jar and oozed out the top. It has been four days now of consistent and quick doubling after feeding, so I decided to make a loaf of sourdough today. I prepared my leaven this morning with a 5/5/1 ratio, and within two hours it had already doubled. I used the leaven to make a loaf, and now have it in the refrigerator proofing for baking in the morning. It doubled in size in about 3 hours, and has since continued to grow in the refrigerator. My homemade baby starter has never been this aggressive, and I am so excited to bake this thing in the morning to see how it turns out. I was getting discouraged with my sourdough journey up to this point, and I'm hoping this will be the difference for a lighter and less dense loaf. I also made sourdough pancakes with the discard yesterday, and they were amazing - such rich flavor and great texture! So . . . if you've read this far, let me just say, this thing is a great starter, and based on my experience with it so far, I highly recommend it!Edited to add: First loaf looks fantastic straight out of the oven. Taste test confirms, it’s a winner! Texture is awesome, taste is awesome!

Very active starter and the smell delicious!!
I was amazed at how active it is because I ordered it on May 2 and it arrived May 19 (I live in Hawaii on an outer island so everything is slower). I was obviously “rearing to go” when I opened the jar. It has doubled and I need to do second feeding already. I will update if any problems but I doubt there will be. Thank you!!

This is a WONDERFUL starter
this was exactly what the company says, it has great instructions, works like a charm! I have been using this for about 6 months… it has never failed to rise. I can even use it 3-4 days after feeding to make bread with no reduced rise time. Makes the sometimes difficult timing on making sourdough so much easier! I can’t say enough good stuff about it. I tell anyone who talks to me about making sourdough to use this starter.

You don't need this, but it works great
You don't need a starter starter. And there's going to be no magic from someone else's starter after a while, because every time you feed it, the starter takes on the character of your kitchen, the flour you use. That said, making a starter from scratch isn't hard, but it does take a week or two, and longer for it to mature. This one is a guaranteed win.I got it after about a week. Don't know how long it was in the mail, but after two days it was fermenting quickly. I used 20% whole wheat flour, 80% white flour, because the whole grain flour gives it a little extra kick. I know others use 30% rye flour for the same reason, but I stuck to the white/wheat formula because that's what the recipe on these guys' website uses.First day I fed it before bed and in the morning there was nothing. It's cold in my house, though, and it was particularly cold then. Next day I got activity so I fed it again. Third day it was doubling in about 12-14 hours, and the one I left overnight was almost over-ripe in 10 hours. I made a levain with it the morning of the 4th day and made great bread. Now it's over 2.5x in 8 hours pretty consistently, when it isn't sleeping in the fridge I feed it twice a day to keep it at peak. You'll get there with your own starter if you're patient, but if you're a beginning baker like me and want confidence that you'll have a great, very active starter in only a few days, this one is good. Also, the bread from their website is a good loaf to start with.

Amazing starter!
I ordered this starter hoping it would be easy and friendly for a beginning sourdough baker. I’ve always been afraid to try non yeast breads. It has far exceeded my expectations in every way! It arrives rearing to go! Give it a bit of flour and water and watch it come to life! It loves the chance to out preform and get to work! I’m baking like crazy and loving the possibilities. Loving the fact that bread can be made with only flour, salt, water, and starter and is delicious! I named my starter Frances but after reading the story I may have to add ‘Sofia’ in there somewhere as well to honor the original Maybe Frances Sofia 😉 thank you for sharing with us.

Best sourdough starter!
Bought two batches of this starter to start my sourdough journey! you can immediately start baking with this starter right after your first feeding rather then starting your own and having to wait 3+ months my first loaf came out absolutely delicious and I continue to make about 1-2 loaves a week along with using my discard for other recipes last week I made delicious lemon blueberry muffins that came out amazing!
