I have grandkids that live with me and there is always a constant stream of questions about everything. At some point I dedicated a room strictly for curiosities and learning. I have a set of encyclopedias, two bookcases filled with all manner of books to sate anybody's curiosity, and a straitly controlled computer station. There is a long table that they can sit at while they are learning about the world around them. In the corner is a globe. I ordered this to hang on the lower part of the wall so that even the little ones can look at it. So far it has proved to be a hit and has generated quite a few questions about other countries. I suggested that they pick any country and then use the resources in the room to write up some things about it. At the end of the week we have the Saturday night pizza party and each child who has wrote about a country can get up and tell the rest of us what they found out. It is a great way to familiarize children with not only geography but the various histories and cultures of different people from around the world. It has proven to be quite effective in igniting their curiosity even in the two older ones who were initially suspicious of anything that looks like more homework but in the end were not willing to allow the younger ones to stand them up each Saturday night so we can also score one for competition.The map is made of decent material and is easy to read. It is laminated so it can be hand-cleaned with just mild soap and a little water. The colors are vibrant and the print is clear. This is not a cheap hackneyed product. It has a friendly price point particularly for what you get. It is flexible although at first you will need to lay it out flat until it's initial tube shape is broken in allowing it to lay flat without resistance. I used two oversized books, an atlas and an art book, to flatten it. All you have to do is lay it out for 24 hours (possibly less) and it is good to go. This map is a solid well-made product.I was completely satisfied with my order. It is easy to read and fits well with practically any motif. It more than fulfilled its purpose and has been quite useful at keeping the young minds and imaginations of my grandkids eager to learn more about the world around them. This is a useful learning tool that only feeds the curiosity of people both young and old. I was glad that I ordered it and would recommend this to anyone with children or a healthy sense of curiosity as well as an appreciation of knowledge not only of the world around us but the people who inhabit it. It is a great place to start and if my experiences with my grandkids is any indication it ignites their curiosity in ways that take it much further than the original intent. These days the world is all too eager to let the internet and the school systems dictate what you kids are exposed to without any real encouragement of their natural curiosity. It's up to the people at home to do their part in helping their children to develop in a well rounded manner. It's an investment that we cannot afford to ignore. This map is just one way that you can invest in young people's future by encouraging learning on their own initiative and that they can have fun doing it. Learning should not be limited to rote instruction and multiple choice answers. That does nothing but prove they can follow instructions and for me that is just not enough. Products like this give them the extra edge and that is important today more than it ever has been.

I can't seem to straighten the map, it's curled up.

I'm very, very pleased with this map. I ordered this map primarily for my young son who seems to have an emerging interest in geography. I was contemplating a globe, but he has one of those at his grandparents' house, so I thought maybe a map would work well for our house. First off, I must say this map is excellently priced. The map is laminated and of great quality. On one side, there's a map with predominantly blue (like a typical map you imagine) and, as a bonus, on the other side, there's a yellow map. I'm sure there are probably official terms for these map styles, but, layperson that I am, I'm not sure what that's called. Anyhow, the maps are easy to read. My son has been enjoying studying the maps, so I would call this product a success. It does come coiled, so when you open the map, it does not immediately lay flat. There are instructions provided on how to flatten the map. I didn't really study those, but I think I saw something about using a hairdryer. We're trying the place heavy books on the four corners to flatten it out approach, so we'll see how that goes. This is an excellent map. Great to have handy for geographers to be as well as curious travel dreamers!

This map arrived in good condition. The size is large enough and the print is very clear and easy to read. The lamination looks durable. Overall, this is a very good quality map that my children could use for a very long time. Would recommend.
