A beautiful story about being special.
I love this book. My grown 30-year-old daughter looked through our bookcase of many childhood books while visiting at Christmas and wondered why we did not have a certain one that she could not remember the name of. I used the clues she gave me and found this book and mailed it to her after the holidays. She was delighted and told me that of all the books read to her during story time at school, this was her favorite. This is a beautiful story!

Great story and message!
Love this book and its message. It was given to my son, and I bought a copy for my niece. Both love it. My 2 year old thought the pictures were scary, though. (The wooden people look creepy to a toddler, I suppose.) I still would absolutely recommend it.

Awesome reading
I'm familiar with Pastor Max Lucado, and although I've explored many of his adult books, discovering his children's books for the first time was a heartfelt experience. This book, in particular, touched my heart and brought me joy.

Special Book
I love this book! It has a message of not letting others judge you and that you are loved just as you are . I read this years ago to my students and it is still relevant today. It helped them to treat each other equally and include all peers in their activities.

Love it
Sweet little story, it made me cry. Such a great reminder for everyone. I'll be reading it every day for a while. I got one for my niece, too.

Wonderful story
This is the review for the small board book, but I also bought the regular hardback full book. This is a wonderful uplifting story for any age.I ordered two of these board books because I love the regular children's book by the same title, and so did my many classes of second graders. This is a story about acceptance, self worth, and God's love, although the woodcarver represents God and His love for us; God is not mentioned. The book remains very "politically correct" for those who are concerned about such, and is appropriate and helpful for any child. This is a sturdy board book version, but unlike most board books, this one has a good bit of text for its size. Therefore it is suitable for reading to children well past the toddler stage. For babies and young toddlers the pages can be briefly paraphrased if desired, and the illustrations are lovely. Highly recommend any version of "You Are Special."

Great message for young and old.
Have used this book as a teaching lesson for children, teens and adults. It has a powerful message without overdoing the God moments. It speaks more to understanding that others' judgements should not define a person's self-esteem. I have bought many of these books and distributed them around. The heavy card stock holds up very well. Used it as the basis for a day long program for women in prison. Very, very well received.
