Currently trying to decide if I should return it or keep it. It's the only gift I got for my mother-in-law, and I don't want to end up with nothing for her...but I'm not sure I should give this to her either.I've posted a bunch of pics of it. As you can see, it came in a thin plastic bag, inside a package bag. All of the sides and corners are pressed down from this. The covers have lines and things pressed into them, too. The leather looks real, but the inside of the covers is paper cloth that looks very low quality and definitely makes the whole book appear lower quality.There are strange spot on the covers that are dark, and I can't tell what they're from. Definitely not meant to be there! The spine of the book has the company name printed right on it and that also gives it a lower quality look, though I can't say why exactly. Maybe it's just because the quality of the prining of the name is so bad.The clasp came very oxidized. I don't think it should've been this way. Certainly not in product photos. As though this was sitting out somewhere for years.The covers have little bumps all over them that must be from the leather before being printed on, but seems like would've been not great quality leather if this was the case.I have bought quite a few handmade leather journals over the years, and so far this is the most disappointing I've ever gotten. The paper inside is obviously hand made, but not well! It has several pages that are way too short, but that doesn't bother me much. What does bother me is that some pages are far to deeply wrinkled and warped to be included, whie other have more weird dark spots, similar to the cover spots but larger. Also, the yellow color on the paper is extremely uneven looking! It doesn't look "old" so much as marbled.Not good value for money. I may have purchased this item on a $2 clearance table, but not what I wanted or even close to what I expected.I recommend you skip this brand and find a good quality book instead!

Beautiful, but it has an odd, Mildew smell to the pages that won't go away.

First: the book is about 4.5in a bit more x a tad over 6 in. see picsi love it. it looks exactly how i wanted, not brand new & handmade. someone else mentioned a garage type smell, and yes, the book has a musty smell, to me like an attic, but i LOVE that smell so its fine.i bought the lovers to record my tarot readings in because im a twice over gemini meaning the lovers is the gemini card in general & my specific birthday adds up to 6 which is the lovers card. not very common.i dont suggest this book for regular notebook use because the paper is very thick & i think overuse would cause them to become brittle. good for a diary or other stuff like that. once im out of pages i will be getting another one
