Check diaphragm!!
Hand pump works great. HOWEVER, make sure the diaphragm is the correct way!!!!! I had to flip it over, after that my 5310 built up pressure in the lines and held!

DOES NOT WORK FOR 5420
Although the quality seems pretty decent on this product, the diaphragm direction is reversed and it does not prime in the proper direction for the 5420. The diaphragm cannot be reversed because of the O-ring seal. I had to discard the product and put the factory diaphragm back in. I can’t imagine that this works in some John Deere models. It looks to me like the diaphragm is just made incorrectly.
