Near-perfect combination of elegance and sport features
This is a great watch, that hits nearly all my frustrations with earlier Casio watches I own (AMW-320R and WVA-M640). While I still have a couple peeves (below), this watch is a definite keeper and will become my main day-wear timepiece.Appearance: It's a great looking watch that very nicely splits the difference of being equally at home in the wild outdoors and in the office. Unlike far too many sport watches, it tastefully includes a boatload of features without over-cluttering the dial. I wouldn't wear it in a formal setting, but I consider it a great choice anywhere from the beach or the campground to the office and smart-casual environments.Size: Not as large as most Pro-Trek or G-shock watches (the latter of which I consider mostly ghastly), but still on the chonky side. See first photo above, which is on a 7 1/4" wrist. The band has holes that should work from probably a 6" to 8" circumference, although I think the watch body would be too big for a less-than-7" wrist. It is too large to fit under the cuff of more than half of my long-sleeve shirts though. I'm adapting by using a steel-spring collar expander on those cuffs -- you'll have to decide whether that look is tolerable for your sense of style or not.Features: I love the accuracy of an "atomic" radio-sync watch. I live in a part of Atlanta that seems to have issues with radio reception, so timepieces syncing to WWVB has been challenging in the past. Not so this watch, which has synced reliably every night. This is the good season for reception, so we'll see how it does throughout the year. The watch face is super-readable in a wide range of brightness due to the contrast between the orange hands and the dark background. The lume is only so-so, and I find it stays readable in complete dark for maybe 15-30 minutes (I'm being generous here); however, the dual-LED backlight means that both the analog and digital displays are easy to read with the illumination.I like how the buttons integrate into the basic silhouette of the watch rather than protruding as they do in so many watches. With knurled surfaces, they're easy to push, although it's easy to mistakenly grip the diagonal buttons when pressing one, with unexpected consequences until you learn to avoid that mistake. The screw-down crown was the feature I didn't know I needed -- being able to advance and reverse through many settings rather than endlessly pushing buttons is amazing. To be honest, I don't know how much I'll use the triple sensor features of barometer/altimeter, temperature, and compass. As others have noted, the temperature readout is worthless if you're wearing the watch as body heat distorts the reading. Barometric pressure is absolute pressure, not the corrected-to-sea-level pressure your weather station will report, but you can correct that if you want. The compass, I think, is reasonably accurate though I don't have a good way to validate it.The one feature that is utterly worthless is the alarms (a gripe I've had with all my Casios, but this one is worse than the others). The alarm is just too quiet. It's somewhat audible in a quiet room if the watch is sitting on a hard surface, but the signal generator must be on the back, and if I'm wearing the watch my skin dampens the vibration to the point that it's nearly inaudible, particularly if there is ANY other sound in the room. Combine with the fact that the alarms (including countdown timer) sound for only 10 seconds and both the timer and alarm features are functionally unusable. I honestly don't know why Casio hasn't fixed this.Others have remarked on the fragility of the mineral-glass crystal. I, too, find this disappointing (my old AMW-320R has a similar crystal and it's definitely scratched). However, the tempered glass screen-protector-like add-ons available on Amazon fit well on the completely-flat crystal and do not protrude beyond the bezel, so I think they're a good investment in a watch I plan to keep a long time.Bottom line, I DO expect to keep this watch a long time, as the positives far outweigh the negatives.

Epic semi-smart relic. I love it.
If you have worn "smart" watches for a while, you either love them, or get bored with those intrusive wannabe Enterprise Communicators. I have an Apple Watch and an Amazfit T-Rex Ultra, but sometimes I prefer something less connected, less annoying, that still offers useful functionality beyond telling the time - and has a great, sturdy retro look.Wonderful watch, and the item I got was brand new and in perfect condition.Absolutely zero complaints.

Great watch!
My husband absolutely loves his watch. It’s not too big, it’s got loads of great features, and they all seem to function as expected, if not better. The watch is easy to read, and the digital display enables it to be read in multiple ways and to be used as an educational tool for our children. The compass provides cardinal direction and degrees. The LED light is strong enough to show the entire watch face, and it can also be used as a small flashlight in a pinch. Its “lume” feature lasts for several hours, and is recharged by the LED light. We’ve yet to calibrate the altimeter, so we’re unable to speak to its functionality except to say that it exists. The watch connects to the atomic clock, so we rarely, if ever, question its overall accuracy. It’s also great to look at. Overall, we highly recommend the product.

Rare and super cool comfortable perfect.
I have a few rolexes and seikos and older protreks . I've been eyeing these new protreks for a while. when casio released the bonfire edition I had to get it. it's been the only big watch I can tolerate while riding a mountain bike. the others have always destroyed (made me bleed) my wrist.. I actually tore a garmin watch off my wrist during one ride and threw that $400 piece of trash into the woods. this model protrek is square , not round and it is light weight AND it has a rubber strap that keeps it where it is supposed to be. It has solar power, radio atomic automatic whatever time keeping that adjusts itself every day... my rolexes ... honestly are garbage compared to this when it comes to accuracy and actual time keeping. this watch is awesome. AND IT HAS A FRIGGIN light on it so I can check the time after I turn the lights out... it has red lime on the face and hands too which is dope... but can't beat a light and you know this man... if you have had watches with just lume on them you know that stuff sucks.. I don't care if it's tritium or "really bright lume" it still sucks compared to a light and you know it. the way that this watch operates is really hands on and is satisfying to manipulate the functions and change settings. the way casio has combined analog and digital is next level with this one. "but it doesn't have a heart rate monitor or a step counter boo hoo"... I know when my heart rate is in the red because I ride a mountain bike every day... I don't give a flip how many steps I have taken in a day because I'm not obese enough to worry about it. "but it doesn't have GPS"...I've had garmin watches with GPS... they suck. everyone of you that owns a garmin watch with gps knows this too. use your phone gps...screen is bigger . this watch is as durable as any G-shock , it's a tank. if you are looking at casio protrek watches , this is the one. pick a color combo and buy it, you will love it.

Quirky watch with good looks
Great watch, looks amazing. I am just bummed that the temp sensor always reads wrong and I have not been able to find the power reserve yet on the display. The Manual did not help as well.

Probably not worth it
Love this watch and all the bells and whistles work just fine. However, the watch band is tearing after less than a year of normal usage and Casio doesn’t cover anything in their warranty except obvious manufacturing defects. Not worth the price if the band doesn’t even last a full year in my opinion. Would look at a different style for durability and different brand for warranty.
