This is a glass hydrometer. It works by measuring how dense a liquid is. It's easy to use just take a tube of the liquid and float the hydrometer in it.The scale reads from 1.0 to 1.35 1 being the equivalent of water or a fermented beverage that sugar has been replaced by alcohol, the larger numbers indicate there is sugar ir other things in the fluid making it thicker. If you measure a reading before fermenting and after you can calculate the alcohol content.. It is easy to read with clear markings and is calibrated for a fluid of 20 degrees. If it is warmer or cooler the reading will be different, but a bit of maths and you can figure it out.I did a test against a known good hydrometer and the readings were good and accurate.This is glass so it is fragile and sealed...
