Worth its weight in gold.
It's the way he explains what are esoteric and even nebulous concepts in a manner that makes you realize how graspable - and do-able - this kind of harmony and melody really can be. If you've already been playing the bebop style for you will still find something amazing or insightful in every section. I've not laughed out loud from the glee of watching my fingers navigating the fretboard in a long, long time. He constantly asks you to play and listen to things against different tonalities, throwing ear training into practically each section. I don't know how he does it but each section is both deep and easy to read. And he does this in a manner that would be Martino-approved (if you've read "Now Hear This") - respectful to the art and doesn't treat it like some kind of bag of tricks. Each section is a portal that will open up and let you go in as deep as you like with other books or videos. Or you can browse. It's all good. It helps if you are already strong in music theory, and have been playing bebop, or at least dabbling in it a bit. I've only scratched its surface, jumping into a few sections, and already have noticed a difference. And how many times I realize that something has been right in front of me all along - I just needed to hear his explanation. Wow. He gets an A+.

Great Book on Jazz!
Wolf Marshall's Jazz Guitar Course: Mastering the Jazz Language is a nearly 300 page reference guide on Jazz. The book is divided in to 3 parts. Part I: Harmony, Part II: Melody & Part III: Improvisation. The book is laid out nice and easy to read, especially with the spiral binding. It contains over 600 audio examples that go along with the material. The audio files are easy to access, and can be sped up, slowed down or looped. I have barely scratched the surface on the Harmony section, the progression examples and the chapter on shell chords alone make the book well worth the price. It is obvious that this book was a labor of love for Wolf!

Love it!
For very little money you get front row access into the world of jazz language for guitar. The amount of material will keep you busy for at least a year. Plus you get the on-line example recordings that open with a very useful player that lets you loop the tracks and slow them down or up. They can also be downloaded to your computer. I'm glad I purchased this book. It has got me interested in playing jazz guitar again. Thanks Wolf!

Excellent product!
Wolf did a fantastic job with this book! The binding alone is great lays on the table or music stand perfectly! The info so far is really through (I’m only up to the Blues section) and laid out well! The recordings so far are really well done too! Thx for an excellent product Wolf!

An Excellant Jazz Guitar Book!
This is an intense Jazz Book. Wolf Marshall goes all out on Legendary Guitar player's knowledge. He really cuts back on all the "Fluff" and goes straight for what you need to know. Please know that the audio examples are on the Hal Leonard Website, but it's easy to get access with the code that's in the book.

So, what about the Kindle version?
Others have spoken to what an excellent book this is. I agree with all the fine reviews I have seen of Wolf's book. I purchased the Kindle version of this and thought I'd share my experience. I often have difficulty reading music books while holding my guitar. Maybe it is because I'm well on in years, but often I have trouble seeing some of the detail in the music and some chord diagrams without looking at the material from a close position. I bought a stand for my iPad Pro and installed the Kindle version of this book. It has worked out great for me. The contrast one gets from an iPad is great, far better than from a printed page. Also, you can easily enlarge the "picture" and see detail from a comfortable distance. I am more than pleased.

Jazz Guitar “Reference”
This book has a lot of valuable information and explanations of the topics presented. However, this book is not a course as the title would suggest. Calling this a course would be like calling a dictionary a language course, it’ not, it’s a reference. One can pick and choose topics at random and implement them at one’s own discretion. The author even states this in the introduction. Also, there are no pieces of actual music or graded studies as one would expect from a course of study. As a reference though, this is right on the mark, it has just about everything you could ask for in terms of information and explanations. I’m sure this will be a go-to resource for many years to come. It is even spiral bound, so it lays flat on a music stand.
