It may seem strange to you, it actually feels a little odd to me, but I did extensive online and in-store research before purchasing this product. Why is this strange? It's a jolly garden hose for goodness sake! Anyway, my research clearly demonstrated all of the problems faced by me and countless others with the humble garden hose.I hate having a hose lying around, looking untidy, collecting leaves and, worst of all, presenting a trip hazard for me, my wife and grandchildren. When you enter the world of hose reels however, you have to be prepared for other hazards.Most of them are shockingly bad. If spring loaded they tend to either lose their spring effectiveness or go the other way and put up a fight when you want to actually use the blasted hose. Sometimes they just mess with your head and lock and unlock randomly! The manual reels are also terrible. They mangle the hose, causing flat spots that tend to make even so-called "kink proof" hoses kink and eventually even crack.This Hozelock beauty is a masterpiece! It is heavenly to rewind manually and it keeps the hose in great condition. I live in Australia and give my hoses a pretty good workout and this one is the best I have ever seen. Is it perfect? No. I do find that the hose reel itself, being free standing, does tend to move or fall over sometimes. I can work around this but I would prefer to see some soft rubber pads put on the base by the manufacturer to give it more grip and much less tendency to topple or slide. Remember, this is the free standing variety and I think "standing" should be a reasonable expectation.Just one more point for any Australians who venture here. Our currently strong currency means that we can buy this product from Amazon UK and have it shipped right to our door in just a few days for a total cost that is much less than the same product is being sold for locally in Oz. I paid a total of GBP 79.21 which was exactly AUD 123.50. At the time local prices ranged from $279.95 to over $320.00 so my research turned up not just a great product but a great price too.

I ordered this item after reading Gardeners World review & recommendation.This really does do the job, in providing a combination of long kink-resistant hose and an extremely easy dispensing and most importantly, rewinding, experience!

Very convenient to have 40 metres of hose in a hand-cranked reel.On first use one is requested to extend the full reel length and here I found the first problem. After about 20 metres one has to exert a considerable pull on the hose to continue extending it, but the reel unit does not have high-friction feet and so slides along the ground in the distance! One either needs a companion to hold it or trap it behind an obstruction.Reeling-in is easy and accurate but there is only a single connection for the tap hose, so lone is left with that hose flapping around. A second, dummy, connector would have tidied that up nicely.The kit includes a basic hose nozzle but it is of little use, it is either closed or dribbling.A good product but could be improved with attention to detail.

Easy to install. Good quality. A bit bigger than expected though but very useful for a big garden.I recommend to buy the connecting hose if you don’t have it.It is portable and it retracts effortlessly.

Worked great for first 5 months then no water coming out of hose. Amazon made it as difficult as possible to return this item for a refund. Paid £96 for it. Seriously, 6 phone calls still no further forward theyre supposed to be paper free but they expect you to print a label, in 2023 I ask you the paperless capital of the universe.🙄 If you haven't got access to a printer tough. Oh and because I contacted them so many times they locked my account. I don't speak Swahili, Malaysian or French, sos but I did finally get someone who spoke u derstandable English on last attempt, hurrah.Amazon bout time you dragged yourself into 2023.

Very easy to set up. Recommended for a large garden, but I find it very useful in my small garden. The reel stays put when I pull the hose up my alleyway, where the tap is, to the back of my garden, because it is heavy enough. (My previous reel used to fall over and drag). The hose doesn't kink (so far) and the connectors don't leak (so far)
