Q: does it turn off automatically?

Yes it will turn off automatically after the cycle runs. So if you have it set to water for 5 mins everyb12 hours, after it waters for the 5 mins it stops. Then after 12 hours from after the 5 min cycle ended, it will automatically come on and water again. You can set it for either 5, 15 or 30 minute watering cycles, for 12 or 24 hour time frame.

Q: Is this solar drip irrigation system suitable for my parents? They grow some vegetables and fruits.

Absolutely! I bought additional lines and connectors and extended it throughout my patio. Just make sure you buy 1/8 parts. Or if you have 1/4 drip lines buy a 1/4 to 1/8 connector. Have fun!
