It does the job.
I bought this for fitting hinges to hardwood boxes with #6 (3.5mm) brass screws. My first test was with a hand held drill, and I was dismayed that the hole was visibly off centre. When I tried it with a drill press however it was fine - so operator error with the hand held drill. It's a well made tool and doesn't suffer from the problems which have been reported in the negative reviews of the cheap sets offered on this site.A previous reviewer mentioned that Trend don't supply supply replacement bits. That's not a problem - standard 2.0mm long series bits fit OK - they're normally 85mm long rather than the 79mm of the supplied bit, but the holder accommodates the extra length. The tool will actually take 2.1mm bits which fit a bit more snugly.

Does what it says
Arrived promptly & as indicated. Only had the chance to test it out on a small workshop project fitting some concealed flush fixings. The outer sheath has a novel bevel on the lower edge which allows it to seat properly in the hinge/fixing to correctly guide the drill bit to the centre. Action is smooth & quick. We’ll pleased with this addition to my drilling arsenal.

Very Useful Piece of Kit
Having sheared off a small bolt head in my motorcycle coolant drain hole, I needed to drill into the bolt in order to remove it. It was very difficult to centre the fine drill due to both the location and dimensions involved. The answer was this drill guide.I was able to completely centre the drill without any risk of it slipping and damaging the surrounding flange or thread. Once I had made a small indentation in the centre of the bolt, I changed the drill bit and fitted a left handed drill bit. I was then able to draw out the broken bolt with absolute ease.I have since used the same system when removing stubborn screws.Just make sure that the drill bit is secured in the drill guide using the grub screw and that the drill tip is positioned to make contact as the spring loaded guide sheath retracts.

A great product, that enables you to have perfectly flush screws everytime.
Another excellent Trend product.Centering the hole in the hinge so the screw drives in correctly has always been a problem.Get it slightly wrong and the head of the screw will never lie flush in the hinge. This product eliminates that.Make sure you buy the correct size for your hinge, so that the counter sink fits nicely in the hinge holes, (this model is for an 8 gauge screw. The metric equivalent is 4mm).Then it's such a simple process. The drill will automatically find the centre.Result, perfectly flush screws everytime.Recommended.I hope you found this review helpful.
