Multi-Purpose Casserole
This is a beautiful casserole. It is very deep, deeper than I had anticipated. Like all Le Creuset, it is heavy. The inner bottom of the piece had small, raised hobs, suitable to keep a roast out of its own fat while roasting. The domed lid keeps the moisture in the food, by returning the steam the food creates back onto the food.I have so far made deep-dish lasagna bianca, a large chicken and barley pilaf, and kapusta (Czech braised meat and cabbage). This casserole was suitable for all of these. I am looking forward to roasting a whole chicken or a whole chuck roast. The casserole would also be suitable for some Basque sheepherder's bread. The only reason I gave just four stars is that the handle protrudes too far upward, so the user must carefully position the oven rack to prevent shattering the lid.

Design / shape SUCKS !
I bought this for many layered lasagna,.Totally useless shape ! Curves inward a lot towards the bottom, the actual bottom is like 6.5 inches x 4 inches, and the top is 10" x7" in the middle, and less towards the sides because the sides are oval shaped !What the heck kind of casserole or lasagna can you make in this???

Got this before Christmas and quickly became one of my most used oven to table pieces

Just what I needed.
An old-fashioned Dutch Oven. Used 2x. Large enough for turkey. Definitely worth the $ if you need every cooking tool in your kitchen. Heavy, strong, quality ceramic that holds up under extreme heat. Even distribution of heat throughout the dish. Versatile, can use w/ or w/o lid. Very easy to clean. Beautiful colors.
